Re: Bell Green Transport Survey online now.

Put it on Mastodon for you: https://social.brainsys.com/@se26/111243923906884838 and I've completed it. Fascinating aerial shot of the eastend of the gyratory where it intersects with Southend Lane, Kangley Bridge Road and the Sainsbury feeder road. Took a bit of time to identify that. Trust I got i...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

Looks like the signage is going up today, a camera has appeared on the Silverdale side recently as well. For those who have yet to pass by. One change is motorcycles are also now prohibited. But then Lewisham is having a bit of a war on the motorcyclist atm. https://social.brainsys.com/system/media...

Re: Broken window theory

Hi b_s - I've invested in a £2.99 picker-upper from the Sydenham Road Bargain Shop. Doesn't look too robust but it helped me do our street today. Thanks for inspiring me. Maybe the Sydenham Assembly should give a proper one plus Lewisham bags to folks who will do their street once a week. So another...

Opoids, Sacklers & Sydenham

"In a broad, tree-lined road in the southeast London suburb of Sydenham stand the sprawling buildings and grounds of St Christopher’s Hospice." So begins the story of how Sydenham hero Cicely Saunders helped begin the development of the opoids to help her terminal patients. How the Sackler...

Re: Broken window theory

Hi b_s - I've long admired your tireless work around Bell Green. We have a great volunteer who does our streets regulary. But the rubbish soon returns. I guess we need to help more.

Are those blue bags Lewisham issue? And how efficient are they at collecting them?

Lewisham Planning offline

'Essential Maintenance" from 9am today until next Wednesday (20th) morning. Maybe they will be adding a 'Sorry but we are unavailable' page at https://planning.lewisham.gov.uk instead of leaving us to wait for our browsers to timeout and keep trying in forlorn hope that something may appear. It...

Re: RIP

I have found a lot useful information in this forum but agree with the response regarding aggressive comments. I often don’t post or reply due to the almost inevitable paranoid diatribe that follows from a small minority. I really enjoy living in the area in general though so would be good to see m...

Re: Sydenham's "burgeoning" high street?

Pure estate agent speak. I remember the notorious brochure for a house in Lawrie Park aka Dulwich Borders with lovely pictures of local shopping - in Dulwich Village rather than Penge.

Hamptons, i think, we're guilty of that one.

Kirkdale Roundabout

From Mastodon Guerrilla Gardeners (aka Just Stop Weeds) this weekend attacked the Kirkdale Roundabout. Suella Braverman appeals to the police to crack down on trowel carrying terrorists. Tim Lund RIP

A tweet from Lewisham West & Penge in Europe (@PengeWest) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder and former chair Tim Lund on June 19th. An indefatigable campaigner and supporter of the pro-Europe campaign movement, Tim was also very involved in local issues and his...

That was a fantastic read. Please keep them going. I was being brought up over a hundred miles away in the 50/60s but so many things chime. We were the lucky ones - no wars, hard working and dedicated parents building a new post-war life. So many of those austere things like sandwiches in bread wrap...

Re: Lewisham Council property investments

Well for better or worse Lewisham doesn't do grandiose. Both Labour Croydon & Tory Woking have one thing in common - trying to create a local Manhatten.

Looks more like Lewisham are trying to put their money into housing property which however inadequate is the best place for it nowadays.
