Re: The two half's is under offer
I reckon it could be 'Poundland' or perhaps a very large KFC.

Re: Tonight's trasmitter light show
Saw the CP lightshow last night from Laurie Park Avenue and enjoyed it very much especially the countdown at the beginning. The disappointing bit was that nothing was mentioned on the BBC London news at 10:20pm. A big event like this which could be seen from most of London and not a squeek on the ev...

Re: Helicopter Over head
I was reading a free magazine called The Transmitter last week and it mentioned that the transmitter was being lit up for the digital switchover on the 18th. There were at least two helicopters around it last night but they finished about 8ish. I think its a brilliant idea and would love it to stay....

New shop at Cobbs Corner
On my way to Sydenham Station this morning I walked passed the Greyhound development and there is a little blue notice on the retail space to the right of the pub next to the empty shop. Upon closer inspection it seems that Sainsbury have the plot. Shame it's not a Waitrose or M&S but at least i...

Facebook Campaign Update! It seems that the privacy settings are set by the people who like the page. So if your own privacy settings are high then no one else can see you apart from your name. https://www.facebook.com/help/privacy/pages Its all very confusing as there is no settings on the page fo...

Re: Save the Greyhound Campaign
All points taken onboard, I shall tonight review the privacy settings on the Facebook campaign. The idea behind this is to try and gain support for the Greyhound in a more public domain. That way any future operator of the pub would see it as a good investment. The campaign is to save the pub from b...

Save the Greyhound Campaign
Hi Everyone! I'd thought that I would start a 'Save The Greyhound' Facebook campaign. So if you can please visit the facebook page by clicking here: https://www.facebook.com/SaveTheGreyhoundSydenham Perhaps the more support we can get the better the chance someone somewhere might be interested in it...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
This is the email I sent to Wetherspoons: I contacted you some time ago regarding \'The Greyhound\' public house in Sydenham. This pub is the oldest known public house in Sydenham and is currently undergoing refurbishment by the developers Pure Lake. A pub chain called Antic were due to take over th...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
I have sent Wetherspoons an email again asking them to consider The Greyhound. The last time I spoke to them they were interested in opening a pub in Sydenham and this could be right up their street. If more of us email them then they might get the hint. If anyone has been to the Postal Order in Cry...

Re: The pub on the kirkdale roundabout
I agree with most of you that the actual footprint of the flats looks bigger than the plans that were on show in the bookshop. If you walk down Spring Hill and view the building work there must be only about 10 feet between the front of the flats and the rear of the pub. Who would want to live in a ...

Re: Keen cycle nuts in Sydenham ?
I used to cycle commute daily from Sydenham to Mayfair evey day on my newly restored Roberts until my achilles decided to not play ball. The route I found easiest was up Kirkdale then straight up to Sydenham Hill and down the other side to the Horniman. Then straight across at The Grove Tavern and t...

Re: New Sydenham Film Club wants to hear from you!
Sounds like a good idea.
Perhaps you could talk to Antic Ltd about setting it up in The Greyhound when it reopens. I am sure that they would be only too pleased to help.
As for films, I would prefer the classics.

Re: Greyhound to be run by owners of East Dulwich Tavern, et
I emailed Antic Limited a couple of days ago about theirs ideas for The Greyhound and my concerns, here is their reply: Hi Andrew, Thankyou for your mail. Anthony has asked me to reply to you regarding your questions. Firstly let me re assure you that we do not only cater for the 'Fizzy Pop' drinker...

Re: Greyhound to be run by owners of East Dulwich Tavern, et
Over a year ago I spoke to Wetherspoons about taking on The Greyhound but obviously the EDT lot got in first. My main concern is what sort of customer they are looking for, if it is anything like the fizzy pop brigade with a bouncer on the door after 7pm then I certainly will not be going in there. ...

Sydenham LB Platform
This morning I got the 6:40 from Sydenham to London Bridge and the platform was like an ice rink. Dangerous!!! I thought the idea of having automatic ticket gates and machines was to free up the station staff to deal with other matters. Instead it seems to give them an excuse to stand at the barrier...

Having read through this forum hearing people say it was just a bit too far, not in the right spot, too grubby to look at. Well all I can say is, you missed out on one of the best shops in Sydenham. I have been shopping there for over two years and found everything they sold to be of the highest qua...

New Business
In regard to the old chemists next to the HSBC building. I would love to see the original interior retained. We lose to much heritage to modern developers and business. I had an idea last year to turn the HSBC building into a quality wine merchants and deli with a brassiere in the evenings keeping t...

What is used to be like
My father worked his whole life in the Post Office / Royal Mail running the sorting office under the old Stock Exchange. This was from the 1960's to the late 80's. In his day the major sorting offices used to sort the post overnight or very early in the morning then they would be out on their rounds...

Poor service from the Royal Mail
Having reading the previous posts it seems to me that when they decided to close the Silverdale sorting office the quality of service has deteriated substainsally. Since the beginning of December our usual postman seems to have been moved to another round and now it will be quicker for us to actuall...
