Re: Can anybody recommend an estate agent?
Just wanted to state the obvious...whoever is giving you a value needs to be aware of the local market. We had a guy from an agency based in Forest Hill who gave us a valuation of 200k less than we we are currently under offer for, he had based his number on Zoopla plus 50k. I doubt Zoopla will tak...

Re: Can anybody recommend an estate agent?
We are currently selling through Pedder and am very pleased with them. The photos they took make our house look awesome and we got an offer above asking price after just 1 week (along with 2 other offers). Their valuation was higer than Property World and KFH and were confident from the start they ...

Re: Parking problems
I'd be astonished if even a handful of the commuters were patronising the high street on their way to the station. Not much would be open at 7am... No, agreed, but at 7pm there is quite a choice however. My day tends to be that way round - I don't know anyone who does their shopping in the morning ...

Re: Parking problems
Is there any danger at all of making Sydenham a place where commuters don't fancy coming to? I guess many of them use the high street shops and unintentionally bring cash onto the high street? Maybe we better be careful what we wish for. Pushing people further away from the high st may cut off some ...

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
Fair enough - and I agree, but the images you posted don't look too bad in terms of lines Besides, surely anything is an upgrade from the disgrace that is the post office and Sydenham Centre or whatever it is called with a dodgy upstairs car park at the back, and as well as that the building that ho...

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
If I've looked at the same plans for the frontage, it, the mini run, does look sympathetic with the high street to me. Put another way, I'm sure it could have been worse had this developer not tried and be prepared to make an effort beyond a "box". @ FromCtoShiningC, what's not to like? U...

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
They seem to have the site relatively clear now. I wonder how long it will be before the boarding will be replaced by a build. It will make a real difference to the High Street I agree, and the plans make it look like it will be really super. We need more sympathetic architecture along the high st....

Re: Local properties acquired by overseas investors
OVER the last year Private Eye has revealed the extent of ownership of British land by offshore companies, generally for tax avoidance and often to conceal dubious wealth. Now the Eye has created an easily searchable online map of these properties, revealing for the first time the British property ...

I'm sitting in the Supreme Fish Bar across the road and looking at the Golden Lion. I have to say I think the exterior looks great. I had never noticed before how beautiful the window frames are. I would struggle to take a review from someone dining in the Supreme Fish Bar!! (no offence, just a fac...

Re: Golden Lion pub
Has Enterprise done something to offend you G-Man? I fear you need to get over it. To be honest, no, so I don't really need to get over anything. I'm simply really interested in pubs and beer Sydenham Syd, I'm also interested in a good deal for consumers and people trying to run pubs, something the...

Re: Golden Lion pub
I've seen the five pumps set up. I'm just hoping that they don't end up being Enterprise standard ales and that they go for all SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) beers - this is the list Pubs like the Dolphin and other Enterprise Inns get there guest ales. It would be great to see some local br...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I agree entirely I want to go in a pub not a kindegarten . I am sure I never entered a Pub until about 17. I know some Pubs and Coffee shops go after the buggie market , but they are usually to be avoided. Pubs are NOT for children , or should not be, I disagree - my children are extremely happy in...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
You want a day trade? Be child and baby friendly. Offer a good kids menu. Attract mothers/baby groups by offering a soft play area during the day (it can be removable for the evening). Basically be the opposite of the Greyhound with their somewhat unfriendly notices (which are not matched by the st...

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
Still no sign of anything happening here....very strange. I started this thread quite some time ago and it appeared to be about to start....15 months on, a new graffitied fence and more weed growth.
God knows...what do these planners do all day?
