Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
The external makeover for Nandos looks really, really good and it's nice that they are going for something that isn't the usual bog standard big brand, generic signage and window displays. Cobs Corner is going to look amazing with The Greyhound and Nandos. What an entrance to Sydenham! Where can I ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
They have their beer/ale list up on a chalkboard outside at the moment. I didn't have a chance to get a good read of it, but there is a list for the main bar and a list for the "festival bar". £4 per pint which seems reasonable considering we are not talking "Fosters, Carling" e...

The bar is in, with all the draught pumps fitted, and new painted signage has gone up above the extension. Looks wonderful already. Shouldn’t be very long at all now, I’d give it 3-4 weeks absolute max.

or that proposed at New Cross. Sainsbury's are sitting on a huge piece of under-developed land and it's interesting to note that while this site has continued with the warehouse shopping estate plan, other areas of London are seeing these sites redeveloped in favour of mixed use developments. That'...

Re: old budgens
I’m confused. Why does McDonald’s keeps getting brought up in relation to this unit, it is far too big and we already have one? M&S have opened two Food Hall stores in Streatham lately, the Streatham Hill one still under construction I think. They’re also opening a second Food Hall store next t...

Re: Litter on the streets of Sydenham
Perhaps we should leave the bin bags outside McDonalds at the end! Why? It’s not McDonald’s fault their customers litter half a mile or so up the road. Why would we think of passing the buck for people that choose not to take responsibility for their actions? Besides, I’m sure Lewisham have McDonal...

Re: old budgens
The electricity bill for all these months is still a lot cheaper than ridding the premises of squatters or paying for damage caused by arson which would have been a lot more likely scenario had the lights not been turned on all this time.
Anyone know what is actually happening with it?

Re: Poodle club
I completely agree with Lord Summerisle. What I really liked about Beer Rebellion was that place was genuinely open to everyone, great 'bringing together community' feel.... Me too, feeling sad for that community gathering opportunity lost and really hope that Poodle club is not staying just as a w...

Can’t be, that’s where Waffle Station is now. Thanks for the heads up of a new bakery in the area though.sherlomi wrote:Evidentally a new "French" bakery is due to open in Kirkdale opposite

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Aldi can have the old Co-op/Budgens unit or bugger off out of Sydenham. Simples Its too small for the current Aldi format. Who are you to rudely deny the rest of us a choice of where we shop? Stuart Who said anything about denying anyone an Aldi in Sydenham? Because it wasn’t me. They should use wh...

Re: Sydenham wish list
I’d say incorporate the 352 and 356 sensibly. It isn’t logical to have 3 routes out of central Sydenham to Croydon, 2 to Lewisham and just 1 route from lower Sydenham to Bromley in a part of London with no proper tube system. The current bus network isn’t ideal when you compare other area bus routes...

Great news. Hopefully by summer they mean Aprilprince wrote:Latest from Nandos. They think that they should be opening around Summer next year and are promising "an amazing place!"
The important part is over, don’t really mind how long it takes as long as it happens.

Rod, if we could somehow arrange the errection of a statue that’s an exact replicar of yourself holding an apple in the centre of the Cobbs Corner roundabout, would that be a good enough compromise for you in light of the Nando’s outcome?

One of the MP's that represent us in Parliament is stalling this. Watch this space for their name if this application doesn't start to speed up in the right direction.
All may be revealed and they'll be losing their seat.

Re: Aldi
It's fascinating how so many threads on this forum end up mentioning or having a full-on discussion about Nando's Surely an indication of its stance and popularity whether people like or loathe it, and yet again Sydenham still finds itself at the sticking end of limbo 8 months after submission of pl...
