Thanks for the warning El Cid, always useful though of course i am very sorry to hear it has happened to any of us.
Unfortunately burglars often revisit an area once they have been in one flat or house so we should alll be alert.

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Well said broken-shaman. It's interesting how many in Sydenham seem to think any old crap and any amount of congestion is fine for those of us who live in Bell Green, It seems to me and many neighbours that absolutely nothing of this nature i nterms of noise and pollution would be entertained for a ...

Re: Litter on the streets of Sydenham
On Tuesday pm I was walkiing home along the river walk and 3 girls in school uniform were throwing their plastic milkshake bottles straight into the river from the bridge by the railway crossing.. I asked them if they knew the consequences for wildlife..Predictably, they told me to F Off. (Can't our...

Re: Litter on the streets of Sydenham
The copious amounts of litter here in parts of sydenham are the worst I have seen in London too. All my neighbours agree and visitors comment- it goes on their list of why they would not want to live in Sydenham. But I don't actually care whether it is better or worse in East Dulwich( which appearen...

Very sad to hear, what can yo usay apart from to wish the victims some recovery and hope for an an early departure for the perpetrators? Unfortunately street robberies and three sex attacks have also been recorded on or near Perry Rise according ot the crime maps.It was a real mistake to lose our co...

Re: Big crash outside station - Sydenham road closed
There is no excuse for such aggresive and dangerous driving ever. However, it is true to say the sign that it is a left turn lane is usually obscured by cars stood at the traffic lights. This obsession with on -road markings is not used in many countries precisely because of this reason. As i say th...

But buyers could get to live "in Sydenham, one of South East London's most vibrant hotspots" LOL. Estate agents, parasites we can all do without.

Re: Sydenham wish list
I wrote to TFL about 356 (it goes from nowhere in particular to nowhere! why not at least terminate in the bus station at CP where yo ucould change withother servcies) They say it runs every 30 mins due ot lack of demand- given you might have to stand 30 minutes at a stop with no shelter eg the one ...

Re: Sydenham wish list
Great idea that had not occurred to me and potentially a much better solution. I sometimes get the 40 bus for part of my journey as it actually covers the same distance quicker than the 176. ( I never mentioned the 176 in my OP by the way) It is very annoying to people down here that we do not seem...

Re: Sydenham wish list
You are confusing fullness with frequency. A bus does not need to be overcrowded for it to run more frequently or logically each bus would wait until it is entirely full before it eevr went anywhere.. The 176 is no good at all for people living in Lower Sydenham. There is a connecting service- the 3...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I don't understand how you can object to a Nandos on health reasons, but approve of the Greyhound returning as a pub? Very well said monkeyarms, and to the tiresome local pub debate we can add in oh so many alcohol related health issues as well as the empty calories. I assume they'll be selling foo...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
No Syd, i don't hink it is this forum- it's that the council say in their response to the objections to the development that they acknowledge there is a problem with litter that their officers will visit the site- and hey presto, it's cleaned up! As i say this should have bee nenforced a long time a...

Re: Sydenham wish list
Definite priority better public transport as that would increase footfall and make others more willing to come here say to eat or socialise. People won't set up shop for a limited market of older people and a new generation of parents who largely don't go out at night. Young people without children ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Well, well, well- it's a miracle! I walked around the retail park yesterday and there was hardly any rubbish left on site for the first time in a few years. Also all the overgrown planting has been cut back and the beds had been cleared of most of the weeds- leaving bare bark chippings as the dead p...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
I went to Bell Green yesterday and although these developments are my least favourite place on earth I think about the jobs and the housing. That was derelict space for decades. If I changed on thing I'd force sports direct to cover those breeze blocks. It looks cheap and nasty. Yes but sadly those...

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
I waited a full 26 minutes for a 176 to work into town at Forest Hill/London road stop on Thursday night-making the total journey time Bell Green to Waterloo Bridge to over two hours. Unbelieveable! The bus (already hopeless) had been stuck in the traffic on Dartmouth Road for ages. I am amazed TFL ...
