Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Live from sydenham assembly. There's no realistic chance of any work being done on the greyhound by Christmas . Yes, folks - that's a start date.

Re: Small scale improvements to CP park
I've asked the head of the park users committee to report the problem to Bromley, and will let you know when its fixed. There's also a drop in session on Wednesday afternoon / evening at the Park Rangers' hut in the park 3pm - 8pm, and again on Saturday 11am - 4pm. Of course, the Wednesday evening s...

Re: Small scale improvements to CP park
The first page includes three overall thematic priorities (park landscape, built heritage, visitor facilities experience etc) options. You move onto specifics later.
It's like asking - is it most important to save your:
a) arms
b) legs or
c) senses
Tough choices.

Small scale improvements to CP park
Another one for Sydenhamites who use CP park. There's a small (£2.4 million) pot of cash available for improvements http://www.bromley.gov.uk/downloads/file/1964/crystal_palace_park_projects_booklet which Bromley Council are now consulting on http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/crystalpalaceimprovements I...

Open air cinema in CP park bowl
Two films for children of the 80s. The Goonies on Friday 20th June and Dirty Dancing on 21st June. Both films start at around 9:15pm. Adult prices are a rather steep £13.50. Perhaps if they'd advertised it locally (beyond the odd poster!) they could have balanced a lower entry price with a greater n...

Or in Auckland, or in Devon (Sydenham House).
Tragically, I have been to all these Sydenham's - because they are there. Well, if already you're in the area, you would, wouldn't you?

Re: May 8th
I'm pretty sure there's a next at home in St Mary's Cray, which is a darned sight closer than Aylesbury. Mind you, Sydenham in Oxfordshire (nice but tiny village, close to forest hill weirdly) isn't a million miles from Aylesbury. I suspect someone used the wrong Sydenham to gauge distance.

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Is there any reason why Lewisham planners can't just put a gun against Purelake's head: "Unless you sort it out by X date, we will bring [x] prosecution against you for failing to rebuild. We don't give a stuff about the nature of the commercial agreement you come to with the other partiers, or...

Re: Scrapping Cars - Advice
If this is the result of an accident rather than your car just being old and knackered, spend three pounds on a glass guide (the industry bible), and cross-reference it with autotrader sales that match your car's spec's as closely as possible. I negotiated an almost a 50% increase in the value of my...

Re: Help needed to stay in Sydenham...
Although you've ruled it out, I'm going to return to the issue of house-shares. You're probably now at the stage now where beggars can't be choosers, if you'll excuse the phrase, if the alternative is an even worse B&B. There are 10 properties on spareroom.com right now covering Sydenham and the...

Re: Help needed to stay in Sydenham...
Spareroom.com / easyroomate.com search for local people renting out rooms in house shares. Advertisers specify whether or not they accept dss , how many people in property and their biogs including age. Realistically you'll be sharing with one other. Minimum let time also searchable if you're lookin...

Re: SYDENHAM'S POCKET PARKS
The odd thing is there are several farmers' market "companies", which organise weekly markets throughout south east London. Lord knows why Lewisham Council hasn't invited these companies to tender for weekly "slots" in Sydenham's various pocket parks. They are City and County Far...

Stranded Sydenhamites
If any of you lot were hoping to get the train northwards out of London tonight, and have been stranded by the collapse in East Midlands' service, drop me a pm in the next few hours. I am setting off from Sydenham tomorrow morning, and have one or two seats available in my car. The dog will be in th...

Re: Online petition to save the Windmill
A quick survey for STF members: When was the last time you visited the Windmill Pub (Me: About a month ago, to see what the fuss was about) When was the last time you visited a Sainsbury's (Me: This morning, in Crystal Palace) Do you intend to visit the Windmill Pub in the near future (Me: No, I thi...

Re: NO SYDENHAM TRAINS SUNDAY
Two of my bugbears on this issue are: The fact that Southern's "live" departure app simply lies. It reports phantom trains that aren't running. The fact that Southern fail to make it possible to understand, from their website, which lines are - and are not - open. I've repeatedly asked the...

Getting Rich In The Recession: Scrappers
It's Channel 4 tonight at 9pm (28th November), and features a Sydenham scrapyard.
I'm sure there will be lots of atmospheric shots of the surrounding area, making it look as grim as possible.

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
The regeneration of one of london's portas pilot high streets is being undermined by ongoing planning wrangles over a landmark site, locals say. The greyhound pub, which sits at the gateway to sydenham high street, has been delerect for more than a year, due to wrangles over how it should be rebuilt...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Maybe someone should tell the evening standard? How will they know otherwise? Give a brief sysopsys of the story, and tie it into the portas pilot and any other juicy angle to raise the journo's interest - and give 'em purelakes details, the details of local councillors, mps and civic leaders. Maybe...
