So....if we meet on the 11th at 8pm in the Golden Lion, our ideas can be discussed at the assembly on the 12th?
Am I right? Does that work for everyone?

Re: Christmas Lights on Sydenham Road
I can come. Please see my previous post for possible contact details of B&Q personnel to contact regarding sponsorship. I will also try to hunt down relevant people at the other new Bell Green traders and post them on here.

Re: Christmas Lights on Sydenham Road
There's also the option of wrapping lights around the newly-installed trees, if they can match up with the main christmas lights. I've always thought subtle tree lights to be very tasteful.

Re: Christmas Lights on Sydenham Road
Given that B&Q have just opened on our doorstep, how about approaching them to sponsor the lights? Or any of the major new Bell Green traders. Giving us Christmas lights would probably amount to pocket change in such company's community engagement / PR budgets. Matthew Sexton is director of CSR ...

Re: Venner Square Food market
Not wanting to do down the efforts of the Portas Team / Lewisham Council, I can't help thinking that being offered a "monthly" market is a bit rubbish, given the clear demand and specialist facilities now becoming available. But here's the thing: City and Country Farmers' Market (http://we...

If you're the Sydenham High Street end of Venner Road, Mayow Park is also do-able. The entrance is off Silverdale.

Would this strike the right note, do you think? Anyone care to send it? Draft: Dear Mr Dowd As a constituent of yours, I am writing to ask for your assistance in resolving a local planning issue that is blighting my local high street: the fate of the derelict “The Greyhound” pub, which was unlawfull...
Re: B&Q
It'll mean I'm slightly less likely to go to B&Q Croydon..unless I'm on a mass Purley Way trawl, in which case Croydon B&Q it is.

Yep, that was my impression too. I'll give them another bash in a few weeks - otherwise it's back to Kirkdale or Penge.

Re: New chippy and kebab shop
Dunno, but I intend to find out this weekend!
I'm not a huge fan of the place in Kirkdale, so am looking forward to trying an alternative.
Wow: another shop in Sydenham selling something I actually buy on a semi-regular basis. Who'd a thunk it?!

Re: Co-Op down
Sometimes I think I must live in an alternative reality version of Sydenham to some of you lot. There's nothing wrong with Tesco Kirkdale. It's clean, well stocked, bright, and popular. And a darned sight nicer to shop in than either Payless or Costcutter.

Re: Jill hub / Cherry & Ice
I've also noticed the staff were flustered on both times I've been. A few people walked out, because the staff were preoccupied making waffles. There needs to be a better way of working - one person making waffles or smoothies, and another taking orders (because lots of orders can be processed quick...

Re: I LOVE TIM LUND
I have embraced my impending old age (40) by getting into gardening big-style in the past two years: Lots of herbs in the window box. Strawberrys in troughs on the patio, rescued from the undergrowth. Courgettes in a pot, also on the patio. Potatoes in a sack. Bay tree in a tub on the patio. Cherry ...

Re: THE MONTAGE in FOREST HILL
I was on East Dulwich High Street yesterday, and (yet again) the market was buzzing. Which begs the question - why can't our market be on in Sydenham every week? There's clearly a demand for it. Like there is in Crystal Palace, Broadway market...etc etc.

Community choir looking for new members
*shh*. Yes, I know, it's the Crystal Palace Community Choir. Worse, it meets in Gipsy Hill. But they're looking for new members, and I said I'd spread the word. There's no auditions, you don't have to be able to read music to join, and they cover everything from classical to pop, musicals to madriga...

Re: Sydenham "property hotspot"
From our vantage in Sydenham, we may feel that property owners in Kidbrooke are paying a stupid amount for a one bedroom flat, relative to what they could get in Sydenham. Kidbrooke flat purchasers may think home owners in North or central London paid a stupid amount of money, compared with what the...

The shutters were half up when I walked past just now. The interior looks nice, aspirational. Clean. Modern.
I might be tempted to give it a whirl when it opens.

Cooker repair recommendation
I can heartily recommend this guy, based in West Norwood. He's come out twice, to fix different part of my cooker, recently. http://www.cookersolutions.com He doesn't mark up on the price for components. And, if he can't fix the problem because it's not economic to repair your oven, he only charges ...
