Re: Sydenham Tyres
I think it quite possible that the council actually sanction the storage of the tyres within an invisible boundary. Quite often permission is granted to businesses in this way, to allow them to continue to trade. You should be able to check this with the council and this night perhaps set a clearer ...

Re: Threats on the forum
Whilst agree unacceptable behaviour, the poster should be allowed to correct this. I actually thought you were actually quite rude to Carty as well though, to be fair. Could be an opportunity for apologies all round. I had to to remove a comment I made about men who visit prostitutes last year - we ...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park
Agree Troll comment very unjustified/unfair. I was finding that debate somewhat interesting up until that point, albeit slightly off topic as it goes to demonstrate how complex these affairs can be. Back on topic and my opinion (of which I do not invite or need comment - it’s already clearly underst...

Re: Sydenham Guided Tour Video
Hmm. Weird visuals (particularly the opening laundrette clip), monotone voiceover and music of impending doom. I’ve lived happily here for years, but maybe I’ll move. I found that depressing.

Re: Knighton Park Road
That’s great as people tend to walk to Yoga. The plot at Gfloor isn’t good for planned residential anyway, as it is right on the corner; this is really the best outcome that could be expected for the space created. Good news, and I would recommend supporting them if maintaining this quiet use is imp...

Homecroft / Newlands Park Junction New Flats
This is actually quite a prominent site (right on the corner of this busy junction and visible from the high Street) but there is no detail in respect of what the final build will look like. Also, have you tried applying to the London Community Foundation for funding? “Beyond the Blade” made me think you may be eligible

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
I’d say “flat”. A house sold on my road after Christmas for the asking price that it was on at originally in 2016. At the time the owner was holding out for more, but didn’t get it. However it did, eventually sell, at asking, this year. The shortage of affordable family homes will keep these types o...

Re: Washing machine
Any handyperson could do this. Biggest problem would be shifting the weight of the machine as they put concrete in the base to stabilise the machines when they spin (actually read recently that a v young science apprentice has invented a bladder so that in future water could replace this weight - hu...
