Re: Fatal Accident Outside Catford Station
Very sad. I note the linked article says, or at least implies, that the lorry driver didn't stop immediately. It makes me wonder if he even knew, if it happened in his blind spot (or one of them). I have seen cycles mount the pavement specifically to give lorries a wide berth which is not good if pe...

Re: Sydenham Man Loses £250,000 Violin
Given it wasn't a mugging or theft, I imagine an insurance company would deem it negligence thus excluded. We all have bad days, but... Maybe good Karma will emerge in some unforeseeable way and maybe in a totally different direction. Can only think positive.

Re: Halloween/Trick-or-treating
If anyone can be around (not at work) for the Sydenham Road Halloween walk on Thur 31 Oct, finishing at the Syd Centre at 5pm for the best costume competition, it's worth being out as a onlooker, whilst of course hiding in the shadows from the scary ghosts and ghouls prowling... who do seem to accum...

Re: Robbery at newsagent
As a regular if not necessarily frequent customer of the newsagent, I asked today if there had been any news on catching the robber. Seemingly, the robber attempted to rob another local shop a couple of days later but was hit at the back of the head during the incident, an injury from which he later...

Re: Bell Green Proposals
I fail to see by anyone would want to live adjacent to a fume-ridden car park or access road and certainly not above a car parking elevated level. I doubt any of the planners or proponents would be putting their names on a "Yes please" list for themselves or families. I wholly agree with M...

Re: Cox's Walk footbridge
One thing that bothers me is that old trees have learned to live with our relatively poisonous air. Is there any evidence that new replacement trees planted even survive or how many of them do? The council really ought to be able to mend the bridge without such drastic action. I've signed the petiti...

Re: Cox's Walk footbridge
Am I reading this right? Two 100 yr-old stately oak trees that could live to 300+ years are going to be cut down even though not diseased or causing damage simply because the council finds it more convenient and beyond their wit to find another way of working with nature to repair a manmade footbrid...

Jollylolly, if your boiler was supposedly fixed, you should get them back for free if "2" is still causing dripping. I kinda know my boiler, but have no idea what's right for yours.
Re: Mad Dough
Brilliant Parker1970 especially if it gets the message across. It would be fanciful I know, but with a Mad Dough logo Photoshopped in the air punch they'd probably adopt it
Re: Mad Dough
What's wrong with just wishing Mad Dough well? It's hard enough setting up a business as it is without creating unfounded anxiety.

Re: High water pressure?
Thames Water always deny everything I reckon. They insisted it wasn't their works that caused silt that clogged up the intake valves on my boiler, washer and dishwasher simultaneously - as if anything else could have caused it - a while ago. Have you tried turning down your mains stop cock, often un...

Thank you. It might be useful grist to the mill if there is a tenable police/criminal aspect that could bypass council reticence.

bensonby, with the best will in the world, surely after this length of time, the trick would be to persuade the powers that be that they should actually do something to enforce rules already in place?

Re: Petition. Lewisham isn't working: end the directly-elected mayoral system now
Over the last half dozen years, cash has been so restricted that it doesn't seem to matter much which party controls a council. I agree though that if a council has a regal head who can determine or override all or even some decisions with the sweep of a pen it does defeat the object. Perhaps a mayo...

So, mosy, John H, ghlpc, let's be hearing your positive ideas, or else that you are happy for renters to just get screwed Renters will get screwed either way as most rental contracts include a clause that the rent takes account only of current official taxes etc and if new ones are imp...

But would it make revenue in excess of costs, if so how as it beats me? Or does empire building come into it as well at others' expense?

Re: Licensing Lewisham's landlords - have your say
The trouble with schemes like this which purport to make things better don't work. For example, the council is fully aware of properties that it controls and yet lack of essential repairs being done is continuously notorious. If they can't or won't police themselves, why would a licence for landlord...

I can't help I'm afraid. However as a high chair's use is shortlived, you might see if you could get one of these: https://www.uberkids.com/east-coast-nursery-combination-natural-wooden-highchair-ecn1473b/?istCompanyId=37dca0b5-f08f-460a-9189-9153d7108287&istFeedId=b9ff17e0-1a2f-4169-bb0c-0c815a...
