Re: Hillcrest Estate development
It sounds like an interesting and productive event. I'm sorry I couldnt attend. I do wonder how many of those 600 names on the petition live nearby, and have independently researched what's being planned rather than relying on the survey. It would be good for Lewisham Homes to put a better explanati...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
When are we going to see some concrete proposals for the homes inside the gas holders that we hear about? I’d be strongly in favour, but I’ve not seen anyone come forward with a plan.

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
Hillcrest Estate is off Westwood Hill with high rise buildings built on parts of the Great North Wood, it would not be allowed not to be built nowadays. Indeed. Which is why the Attlee government was able to tackle the post-war housing crisis and provide decent homes for all, and yet – for all the ...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
Yes, why didn't the petition creators show instead with a picture of the dilapidated garages that are going to be built on for this site? Or use pictures of the actual trees that will be affected by works instead of conjuring an image of majestic ancient woodland? I don't see how the authorities can...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
Quite a misleading petition. e.g. of those 43 trees, 38 are ranked Cat C meaning low quality /short life span. I assume the petition makers knew this so they should have included it as they're not ancient woodland.

Re: New St Christopher's Charity Shop
I emailed dragonfly yoga (zanara court location) only a few days ago regarding something not directly related but the response was they can’t confirm anything but if it was to go well they would hope to be open towards end of the year. Guess something could’ve happened in last few days with llandlo...

The Zanara Court application has also been withdrawn, it says on the planning website.
So are we getting one studio, two, or zero? It's not clear.

Re: Trees in Lewisham
Nor has the site been checked for stability or the presence of underground streams, therefore creating a flooding risk. More homes need to be safe homes, and the council appears to have skimped on their homework. I'm sorry but this rumour isn't true either. The 350-page geotechnical survey has been...

Re: Trees in Lewisham
The plans for the expansion of housing at the Hillcrest Estate have been drawn up blithely unaware that the estate trees are a protected remnant of the Great North Wood. The council plans to fell large numbers of trees, and reduce the green space available to the Estate's children. Let's be precise...

A planning application for a block comprising five flats at 219 Sydenham Road has been approved. From the latest planning committee minutes: http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/documents/s56366/Minutes.pdf 5. 219 Sydenham Road, SE26 Planning Manager Helen Milner outlined the details of the applic...
Re: sticky:Mural?
Any update on the Plan A for the railway wall, JMLF? You had such good momentum and I'd hate to see things fizzle out. If the planning restrictions mean it has to be a short new bit of wall, or within one-frame of the old wall, perhaps someone could sketch something out similar to the Victorian-styl...

Re: New yoga studio?
As someone with “skin in the game” it’s good to hear you’re in favour Adam. It’s true that two sites (or four – if you include the Syd centre and the pure gym) could be in competition: but this can sometimes be good. Paradoxically, clustering of certain shops can often generate more success as peopl...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building
I agree the design is disappointing, given the opportunity for something more intelligent using brick or other materials. Please can you explain more about the planning history that’s led to this? I saw the proposal to put fascia rather than timbers on the second wing had been rejected, but this loo...

Re: New yoga studio?
Perhaps linked to the dragonfly studio in brockley? I guess they’ve done their market research. I believe the classes at Puregym are often very oversubscribed. If between them they manage to draw people in from other areas at the weekend then it could be a brilliant stimulus for the rest of the high...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Very good news! There’s an application to turn the basement space of the building at 291 Kirkdale – what used to be a controversial nightclub – into a lazer quest and escape room site. Other than a nightclub, hard to see what else you could use that space for, unless a cinema somehow wanted it – and...
