Hi MikeInDenham I wrote to Caffe Nero and recieved an instant reply saying that they looked at 2 properties in Sydenham about a year ago bt they were honest and thought Sydenham wasnt the right location for their business, perhaps because it looks a bit scruffy, however they said they were intereste...

These days if I need to get to Savacentre by car (which should be a straight and painless route) I'll often go round about the houses and drive all the way to Forest Hill and then down Perry Rise to get there. Or even to Penge and come in via Kent House Road just so I don't have to drive down Syden...

If i refer to Venner Road as being 'posh' or 'desireable' when i say this i generally mean the Bromley end if ive confused anyone, i.e. Wiverton, Byne Road area, the Bromley end is under Sydenham too, i dont think the 'Lewisham' end is very nice, as you say. However i think the majority of the house...

I think most of Venner Road has lovely houses and is definetely one of the most expensive and desirable areas of Sydenham, also the houses in the Venner Road to Newlands Park area are usually always in high demand, estate agents are usually always putting signs in their windows saying that they woul...

Its quite interesting that they have good beer, as ive heard that they buy beer when its just about to go out of date which is why it is cheap, and that it works well for them as they can shift it quickly before it actually goes out of date because they operate on such a large scale. Yes that Wether...

I suppose what i am trying to say is that a smaller crowd of people is being attracted to the Windmill from pubs like The Fox and The Woodman which are smaller establishments, therefore i am saying that as the Windmill is an overly large pub for the area, it is not attracting the amount of customers...

I fail to see what harm will come from a bookies opening up It's not so much harm, its more a case of not wanting a high street full of bookies, pound shops and takeaways. Like fat_mike, I'd sooner a bookies over an empty shop, but I'd sooner anything else over a bookies. Like i keep saying....

London mayor Boris Johnson has said he is considering plans to extend the Bakerloo tube line as far as Lewisham. ..if it were to be extended to Lewisham, what would be the likely route? Any chance at all that it could come through Forest Hill or Syd? Syd and Lewisham are already connected.....it's ...

I think its absolutely ridiculous the fact that Lewisham doesnt have a cinema, there really has been a lack of investment within the borough hasnt there? ...I mean so many boroughs, think of neighbouring Croydon and Greenwich have large entertainment and retail complexes like Purley Way, Croydon To...

To be honest, the Windmill is too big a size pub for the area, the whole look of the place is Wetherspoons and it should have stayed that way. The size would be ok if it was still a Wetherspoons as the low prices of a Wetherspoons would mean a higher footfall if you like. It looks like the place wou...

I agree with Biscuit, why dont Lewisham ever do the right thing, they seem to grant the opening of Chicken shops, Bookies and all these unethical businesses that make the high street look cheap and miserable and if it continues this way Sydenham's future will be jeopardised immensely whether the ELL...

Gazza – even better. What a boon it would be if Lower Sydenham were linked by one train direct to Oxford Circus and central London! This is exactly what i would love to add to the East london Line, Sydenham and Lower Sydenham would definetely become one of the optimum locations to live regarding tr...
