Re: Sydenham Arts Festival teaser
Just noticed that Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin are playing at the arts festival. Seen these guys a few times at the Crossiant Neuf festival and they're well worth checking out in my opinion. The harmonica beat boxing is especially good. Will def be getting tickets. Really good to see the arts fes...

Re: Windmill pub becoming a sainsburys?
I once read a Wooster and Stock advert which described the Windmill as ‘your local Gastro Pub’. Talk about false advertising
Agree with G-Man that is could be a really good pub and hope it doesn’t end up as another Sainsbury’s

Re: Funding for Mayow Park Pavilion refurbishment
Is a portaloo a viable option? How often do they need to emptied? Assume the servicing cost will be considerable?

Re: Looking to move to Lower Sydenham - advice needed
We've lived in Champion Crescent just up from Dillwyn Close for the 5or so year. We really like this end of Sydenham. As well as whats been previously posted Mayow Park is real asset and only short walk up the road (even more so when the new cafe opens!). Also in catchment for St Micheals which is r...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Well I think it’s a good place. Right next to the station to take advantage of the commuter footfall. All I know is that I’ve been living here since 2007 and the greyhound has always been boarded up. How much longer do we have to wait for things to happen? It won’t be as big as it use to be but does...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Can't believe people are suggesting that it should be pulled down. I like open space but there are plenty of parks in SE26. What there isn't is many place worth going out. I've been looking foward to a few beers here after work for ages. Sydenham really needs this as a decent pub.

Re: First Lantern Parade meeting – Wed 21st Nov, 6pm
That’s a great idea! We go to festival each year called Croissant Nuef in USK in Wales. Its only a few thousand people and on the Sunday evening they have a Lantern Parade up to the old iron fort. All the kids spend the day making Lanterns and everyone takes part in the parade. It’s a really nice wa...

Re: Larksbere Road
I’ve lived around the corner for number of years. I think the area is fine although Larkbere Road itself, always looks like a nightmare to park on. Its just over a 10 minute walk to the station which is bearable. I think the house of the corner of Larkbere and Champion Crescent is being converted in...

We initially looked at a flat on Mayow Road but decided there was too much noise from the traffic that race’s past.

Re: Moving to Sydenham
I’ve lived at the bottom of Burghill with wife and baby for 5 years and think its fine. Admittedly the highstreet is not as nice at this end of SE26. St Michael’s is def one of the better primary schools in the area as well.

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
Eagle you seem intent on putting any prospective buyer off by banging on about how it’s not as big as it use to be and how smaller pubs are closing down in droves. It’s in a prime location right by the station. If it can attract the evening commuter traffic then surely it will do well. The amount of...
