HSBC Building
I would like to see something along the lines of a 'Lorenzos' in Crystal Palace. This is a lovely Italian restaurant - anyone on the Sydenham Town Forum been there? It must have been there for years - we have been going there for a long time and the quality of the food has always been very good. The...

In response to Nasaroc's post of 5 May - I categorically deny that I ever signed the petition against the CPZ 18 months ago. I have ALWAYS been for a CPZ in PHG. I would be very interested in seeing my signature on this petition as if it is there it was fradulant. Also - I would add that this is pri...

Once the disabled and parents with young children have been accommodated by having remote access to platform 1 (as already agreed by the Rail Company and acknowledged previously in this thread) then I fail to see that there is a valid argument for keeping the gate open for any others. It does amuse ...

Oh I see Lambchops - those who live in 'subsidised' housing are not allowed a say in the external issues that happen in their locality which effects their quality of life eh? How pompous! By the same token then those who choose to have children shouldn't whinge about having to climb a few steps with...

Firstly I would like to thank Tasha for supporting the points I made in my earlier post. It is good to hear other immediate residents having the same concerns about their quality of life deteriorating since the gate to platform 1 has been opened. To the comment made by Castiron73 about nimbyism - ye...

Platform 1 gate closure
Well sorry to disagree with you all but we welcome the closure of the gate to Platform 1. As residents of Peak Hill Gardens we are fed up with the inconsiderate parking of all the commuters. Consider others that are adversely affected by this gate being open 24/7. For starters it is like living next...

Access Gate to Sydenham station up line closing
Well sorry to be a killjoy but hooray I say if the gate closes. Perhaps the people in Peak Hill Gardens will be able to park outside or near to their own homes for a change. I can understand the frustrations for the disabled and mothers/fathers with pushchairs but it should not be beyond the wit of ...

Greyhound on fire
We have just had to call the fire brigade as the Greyhound is on fire. We saw smoke coming out of the front section and round the side and seems worse around the tiled bar area. There are 3 fire engines on the scene and the fire brigade have knocked down the hoarding to the side to get in. We will u...

I really do not understand people's obsession with 'saving' buildings which are quite clearly past their sell by date. The two here are not even nice to look at. Granted the scaffolding, broken and boarded up windows do not help but really! 'An interesting old pub'?? Well obviously not interesting e...

Oh dear - is our Greg offending people again? He did add a winky smiley and said it was 'without malice'. Still I don't need to defend him he does that very well without help. I have been in TD a couple of times and it struck me that the bar staff are very young and inexperienced. Probably students ...

In response to Nasaroc and thank you for the info by the way - there must be a compromise to be reached here surely? Why can't a reputable developer take the shell (or at least the historic bits) of the Greyhound and build flats in a sympathetic style to the surroundings? This has been done inumerab...

Greyhound Car Park Closure
Does anyone know why the Greyhound Car Park has been closed this week? Does this mean the start of the much talked about development?
This is not a moan by the way - I am happy for this to be closed as it keeps any noise at closing time down.

Thank you for responding to my cry of woe re the car parking in PHG. I think it may be worth another bash at residents parking only around this area. When this was first suggested a few years ago I was all for it. However, no other residents agreed with the concept so, as you say, it was shelved. An...

I hate to be a killjoy when people are so delighted with the gate at the end of Peak Hill Gardens being open so that passengers can access the up platform to London Bridge. However for residents of PHG the resulting problems of trying to park even remotely near to their own homes, it is a nightmare....

Whilst I agree with Ella's point about not needing any more pound shops or hairdressers (or nail bars come to think of it) - I must defend our Town Centre Manager, Julie Dutch. She, has been highly involved, along with others at Lewisham Council in getting the community clean up under way. This is w...

The Greyhound
I am not ranting and raving about it. All I am asking for is that I may be afforded the same right as everyone else to the peaceful occupation of my home. If that means challenging anti social behaviour in whatever form - I consider that is my right as a law abiding citizen. Whether I be a local aut...

The Greyhound
Looking back at the post that started this - from Jules - I think the thing that is 'criminal' is not the thought of knocking down the Greyhound as was the quote, but likening The Greyhound pub to St Bartholomews church - now that almost borders on blasphemous.

Jules - yes well we are not all as fortunate to be able to afford to buy our own properties and choose where we live. SimonO is indeed correct in his understanding of the varied mix of tenancies in most of the proeprties surrounding the Greyhound. Whilst not wishing to expose the circumstances aroun...
