Re: Daniel Morgan Murder
Another review publication delayed as reported by Joshua Rozenberg. This time it's the Home Office and Secretary who want to check it first. "The independent panel set up to examine the investigation into the murder of Daniel Morgan in 1987 has said it is “disappointed” that publication of its ...

Re: More senseless death
Good to hear from you Bensonby - police on the street might by much objective measurement be inefficient and ineffective but are we measuring the right things. Is citizen morale measured and what value is given to it? Are citizens more likely to become involved and speak to the police if they see po...

Re: 5G Nimby-ism?
Probably not to answer your question but there are a few things going on here I believe. It's not just the mast - the amount and size of associated street furniture with the 5G installation is quite a lot and perhaos more of an eyesore / imposition. Also there is the factor of the design of the mast...

Re: Borough wide CPZ - to help Lewisham budget shortfall
@Stuart: you ask why? More faf, more admin, more having to think about something else. Less ability to just get on with life without reference to administrative bodies. Maybe it's an age thing. Also it doesn't recognise the diversity of Lewisham's areas. One positive is that there is no hiding that ...

Borough wide CPZ - to help Lewisham budget shortfall
Not sure if this has been picked up by anyone, nor how serious is the proposal but Lewisham has plans to introduce a borough wide CPZ in the next year. This was laid out in their 2021/2022 budget. Confirmation in a tweet by Cllr Sophie McGeevor (@SophieMcGeevor) today ("It ("borough wide C...

Re: International Woman's Day: Green Ladies
Sometimes it's valid and necessary to spend (even public) money to make a point and change our behaviours and point of view. And some change should be welcomed - I am pleased that as a society we in many areas don't find acceptable what was acceptable 50 years ago. But a society is made up of divers...

Re: Rapid coronavirus test site at Sydenham Centre
Really good to get a test centre in Sydenham - anything that makes it easier for us to get a test if needed. This location might remove someone's hesitancy to get out and be tested - avoids travel to Ctaford or other parts of the borough inc. CP.

Re: how to get out of this mess
Remember that even in the depths of the second world war the UK government was planning for the welfare state. If we could focus on more than one thing at once then, why not now?

@JRW - interesting and valid question to ask especially if one is a resident. Bellingham is poorly served in a number of ways and is high on the deprivation index as well. No surprise that leisure facilities are correspondingly poor - though in other areas of London in the past, such as Brixton, the...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
The changes to Bishopsthorpe and Silverdale were envisaged and initial consultations made a long time before Covid. They were always going to be introduced this year for a trial period; plans had been made - seems that Covid has given a general umbrella coverage and additional rationale for these sc...
