Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
This hysteria over obesity is simply bizarre given the type of restaurant Nando's is and what else is on offer in the area, about which no fit is being thrown. People who don't want to eat there don't have to. But don't make up spurious objections. There have been so many spurious objections in rel...

Sydenham wish list
After the success of the Nando's campaign can everyone list their wants for for Sydenham? Mine are 1. A green Sydenham with lots of planters everywhere. If it looks like someone cares people will have more respect. Since my road has been swept frequently I've noticed less garbage being dropped. I us...

Re: 2017 Decent Christmas Decorations in High Street?
There is a thread about this from 2015 including links to what other areas are doing for Christmas: https://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14379&p=127301&hilit=christmas+lights#p127301 Once again, this is where strong traders representation can make a difference. These guys c...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Well, well, well- it's a miracle! I walked around the retail park yesterday and there was hardly any rubbish left on site for the first time in a few years. Also all the overgrown planting has been cut back and the beds had been cleared of most of the weeds- leaving bare bark chippings as the dead ...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Nando’s is very popular amongst teenagers as a place to go and meet or go on a date. The restaurant Is a place young people can socialise in and have their first restaurant/dining experience away from parents. Also popular with families. This is a welcome new addition to Sydenham. I love Nando's! A...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I have just checked the Council's planning portal and it says planning permission GRANTED! Well done to all those who have supported the campaign to get the planning permission which will secure major and much needed investment in our town centre. I will be joining the conga around Cobbs Corner thi...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
email reply received... Thanks for your email. I'm sorry that you feel disappointed with the Council's handling of this application. I'm not sure if you are aware that we have supported the principle of change of use here to Nando's, recognising that it would bring vacant units back into active use...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Eight months and counting and yet still no decision from the Local planning authority on what should be a simple change of use. This is now four times longer than it should take to determine the application. Well this is now expected. I'll contact Nando's for some info and send it to Cllr Best. Hi ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
I went to Bell Green yesterday and although these developments are my least favourite place on earth I think about the jobs and the housing. That was derelict space for decades.
If I changed on thing I'd force sports direct to cover those breeze blocks. It looks cheap and nasty.

Hey thanks that's the one. It looks great and is helping to improve lowerish Sydenham, it seems to be having a renaissance of sorts. There are a lot of skips and scaffolding so people are investing.

I agree. That MP is not acting in our interestsydres wrote:Unless you have a very good reason not to reveal the MP you say is behind the stalling, I suggest you tell everyone that looks at this forum.
Enough is enough and Sydenham deserves better from a Council that is supposed to be championing the area.

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Nandos latest. Still no decision on the change of use. 32 weeks and counting. The latest thing that the planners are now querying is the size of the loading bay that Nandos want to put in. Nandos want a 12m bay for they have a circa 11m vehicle providing deliveries. The Council has however said tha...

Re: Zanara Court
Dare I ask where the residents of Zanara Court will park their cars? The residents in the surrounding roads struggle to park their cars due to Sydenham Station commuters, Sydenham Road Shoppers and the endless shop staff and estate agents parking their cars in the area. Residents can't park and now...
