Gordon Brown book on Cicely Saunders

Gordon Brown has just written a book on courage, to be published on 4 June, profiling eight people who showed great courage. One of the eight is Cicely Saunders, founder of St Christopher's hospice. An extract from this is in today's Guardian: http://books.guardian.co.uk/extracts/story/0,,2058834,00...

I walked past the place this morning and saw that a planning notice was pinned up. I've just looked it up on the Lewisham council's website and found this entry: http://acolnet.lewisham.gov.uk/LEWIS-XSLPagesDC/acolnetcgi.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=49624 (If t...

Greg, I'm not suggesting that the noise from the Dulwich Wood House would be a particular problem - I just think that many people, especially paying that sort of money, might be put off by being next door to a pub and would not be aware of the restrictions on children and hours you mention. You are ...

I've spent a lazy Saturday afternoon surfing the internet and have discovered that South Eastern Railways, who run the Victoria - Orpington route, have a "meet the manager" session - as you can see from the link below the next one is on 1st March, between 8 and 10am at Victoria station. ht...

Security on trains and stations

I read about the act of violence at West Dulwich earlier this week, details in link below: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6381543.stm I would not want to scaremonger and I acknowledge that such attacks are relatively uncommon, but I am very much concerned by this, and would like to canvas...

Man attacked on Victoria - Orpington train at West Dulwich

Many of you will have heard about this awful attack (a link to the BBC report is below) in West Dulwich. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6381543.stm I don't want to scaremonger and I know that such attacks are relatively rare but I'm one of many people in Sydenham using this service and no...
