Re: Cars vandalised in Peak Hill

Seems unlikely - But I'm sure Eagle will shortly furnish us with detailed evidence on the reduced incidence in the US of youth vandalism and how that is directly correlated with vastly higher rates of gun ownership. Just like how carrying a gun in the USA stops mass shootings, well ok maybe 1 in ev...

Re: What a beautiful day

Every day is a beautiful day, it's just sometimes the weather is pants... We only have a few years in this life much better to be cheerful and friendly . Sometimes that's a good philosophy, chaps. Sometimes it really is more complicated than that. I agree. Life can be incredibly tough but it never ...

Re: What a beautiful day

I thought as I turned onto Earlsthorpe and leaned down to stroke a one-eyed cat. Just then an old man, bent double over his cane walked past. "Good Morning! What a beautiful day!" he called out, electrified by the morning. Of course, he may die soon, unloved by minimum-wage staff in a pri...

Re: Cherry & Ice Games Night

They do have a sign up in their window stating the last Friday of the month is Games night. Not sure if that is the case for this month as Good Friday is the last Friday. Might make it a Thursday instead.

Re: Texts from Sarah/Emma

We have two landlines. Both have been registered with TPS for some years. In 2015 we received over 2000 cold calls; 7 or 8 every day! The vast majority are for 'marketing surveys' and appear to originate from India using Internet telephony with spoofed caller ids. We learned very quickly not to ans...

Re: Town Pub

It looks as if the SE23 forum have found a gap in the market and are developing their own (openly accessible) version of the Town Pub. They've even found an Eagle lookalike. Take a look at recent posts here . They will make your hair curl. I'm wondering if chrisbeach is a by-the-numbers troll. It's...

What are they demolishing? Surely not Hill House itself (the Victorian detached house)?
Thanks

Re: Best dog walks in SE London

We have used Sydenham Hill woods for years. Dogs love it. The only possible downside for young (or entire) dogs is that it is quite easy for them to shoot off into the trees and get lost. So you have to keep them under control or, at least, keep a very close eye on them in some parts of the woods. ...

Re: Texts from Sarah/Emma

that's a good site thanks for the link. I had a call this week from a insurance company asking about if I wanted to take my car accident further, er what accident? promptly hung up but they came up on this site as a persistent scam caller so blocked their number. I ask for their company address. Th...

Re: Chinese takeaway

I can recommend the singapore fried noodles in Tung Sing House as my tongue is still singing. They are my fave local followed by the Lin Hong Dartmouth Road by Kirkdale. If I am ordering online I'll order from Spring Way opp the Brockley Jack, smaller portions and more expensive but the best around.

Re: Moving to Sydenham Hill

Hi Everyone, I hope you guys can help me, I'm currently looking at a property in Sydenham hill estate (se26 6tu), and would like to ask everyone's opinion of that area, The area seemed ok when I went to see the flat, and in the one evening I drove round there, but wanted some local knowledge if I m...

Re: Demolition of Hill House 28a Sydenham Hill

As a nearby resident I received a letter from Lewisham Council regarding an application to demolish Hill House 28a Sydenham Hill SE26 and the change of use, alteration and extension to 28 Sydenham Hill. Application No is DC/15/094733. However, I can't find any reference to it on the Lewisham Counci...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I must say, having walked past The Greyhound over the last few days, it is looking glorious (so far).... I think they have plinths outside now, for the lovely new greyhounds (yet to be added).... it all looks very smart and (most importantly) has been built in a very sympathetic manner (i.e. keepin...
