Re: Catford bridge
Great. But where to paint, and what? Greyhounds obviously represent Catford's history but what represents us? Please don't say gas cylinders. Any where in Bell Green would be a bonus!

Re: New pocket park bench
I'm afraid my own thoughts are not good and this type of innovation exactly what gets me so hot under the collar about Sydenham. Presumably this is not sponsored but is paid for with our council tax? If so who thought Sydenham residents would want to sit in a row like the three wise monkeys gawking ...

Catford bridge
OK so not quite Sydenham but nearer to those of us in Bell Green than many other parts of Sydenham and many of us travel through each day as we use the stations. Last night on my way home two guys were painting then stencilling the brick wall over the road bridge over the railway on the South Circul...

Re: Food Hygiene ratings Lewisham
Well, here's us like fools worrying about the garish and scruffy appearance of quite a few local shops- now it appears some can't even be bothered to get the basics of food hygiene right- including washing their hands! What i can't understand is why it not compulsory to display your rating on the do...

Sorry but the CEO of Heinz flew in especially to see me but he said he did not like the signage in our high strreet so would not be opening a pop up here but if Harrods opened a branch next to the garage he might give it a whirl. Oh and he said i should study how big businesses pay consultancy compa...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Regarding the newsshopper article that owlwise helpfully posted, i do not understand this turn of events. First, at the meetings held to discuss the issue odf Aldi many local residents said their main concern was traffic pollution and not saviing the gas holders; that they were happy to see resident...

Re: Cycling Weekend Road Closures
Thanks for the tips about sight seeing Admin, but actually some of us had to visit freinds in Whipps Cross hospital- a journey which thanks ot the chaos caused by the closure of central London took 2 hours and 15 minutes each way.As the organisers claim it is "an olympic legacy" why not ho...

Re: Proposed reduced train services in 2018
It is ironic that the last LB to Sydenham trains are now stopping earlier at night- just as TFL launch the overground all night to NXG- from where of course we could have picked up the onward journey to Sydenham via the last LB train to Sydenham on Fridays and Saturdays at around 1 am  .. I am...

Re: The Sydenham Society
I'm sure the Sydenham Society has done excellent work. But it is 2017 not 1977 and many local societies as you describe now regularly canvass opinions- including from non-members- via electronic surveys, two-way social media and public consultations. How, for example, do you even know what the prior...

Re: London Overground night extension
Due to the reasons that Likelife states it looks unlikely it will be easy to extend the night line down to us.Network rail say they need night access for their repairs. LOL. I think we will have a very long wait for TFL and Network rail to agree on anything as their rivalry appears to be a stubborn ...

Did i just read in an oft repeated list on this forum listing things Sydenham has to offer "20 minutes transport to the west end?" Obviously we need to add to our list of attractions "great drugs"

Fantastic news. However, Jim Dowd did do something. I once emailed him about the lamentable public transport in Sydenham in terms of connecting us with central London. He forwarded my email to Boris for reply! To give credit where credit is due, i got a three page detailed response from the Mayor's ...

what has been your previous experience with CPZs? We all voted for them in Brixton when i lived there, then within a year bitterly regretted them- you still could not park near your house but the pay -by -results wardens would pounce on residents for such things as "tyre in contact with the ker...

You are right about Herne Hill. I lived there in the 1980s when it was considered a slum. It is completely unrecognisable now .What makes it different to Sydenham in my view is that numerous journalists, TV presenters, actors, newsreaders and poiticians live there and do they know how to make a fuss...

Yes, i agree, charging excludes many people from using them. Once public parks seem to be becoming the de facto province of the middle classes who increasingly set the norms and terms on which the rest of us can use them. (Though i suppose from their inception there was always an air of preachyness t...

Re: Bell Green Retail & Employment Plan Consultation
Many thanks, it did not come up on a Lewisham council website search! I will see if i am allowed to post the link in a separate thread as a lot of people at the meeting this week did not know where to find it and it closes soon. .
