I honestly can't get worked up about losing a) car park b) shed, caravan park etc to fund a vastly improved central section of park. The entire park is ringed by housing, apart from the gaps the LDA are proposing to fill. The LDA's proposal is reasonable and balanced. And no, I don't work for the LD...

I would have been there too if the idiots at bromley council hadn't put the display time at 6:30 pm on their website, rather when they actually did happen. It certainly sounded very impressive.

I wondered why they were suddenly throwing money at the existing NSC..

Knighton appreciation society

Membership: me (don’t worry, it’s not creepy, honest). Just luv you work on the dog cr@p debate, and pretty much everything else too.

For our next debate: the MMR jab and middle class crystal-loving hippies who say “no”. Do they deserve to be prosecuted for criminal neglect?

I'm with Knighton, again. This is called "tough love" folks. A bulldozer. Followed by a decent pub or two. I know, it's a lot to ask, to be within staggering distance of a decent boozer. And a decent restaurant. Where the food doesn't come in mega buckets. And some decent shops. You know, ...

I look forward to the day that the doctors next to sydenham station decide to spend some of the bars of gold that have been shoved in their mouth in recent years on a decent website. But I'd settle for a lick of paint and reasonable opening hours for starters....

agree with soulfood that dulwich, crystal palace and sydenham hill are much nicer than sydenham itself (but are all within 2 miles). crystal palace and forest hill have better bars and pubs than sydenham. you can enjoy "local places" without subjecting yourself to cheap dime (?)stores, bur...

What's going on at the NSC?

For saying they're plannning knock it down in a couple of years, the LDA are spending a lot of money doing it up.

Have they got cold feet on the master plan or something?

Reading through these posts, I'm afraid I agree with Knighton. What is it about local activists that makes them so enamoured with protecting derelict or run-down facilities? I’m now going to make a point of attending local planning meetings, and speaking in favour of local developments that actually...

CP pool now open at 7am

Not that they have told anyone, mind you! Even the 8am regulars weren't aware of this development.

Now, finally, those of who work in the centre of town have a realistic chance of a relaxing swim without frantically having to rush around in the morning.

Spread the word - they wont'!

I use the crystal palace pool most days, which I access via the uninspiring Lawrie Park Gate. Inside, the pool is a dilapidated embarrassment of a facility. Externally, the entire existing complex is a scar on the park. In fact, the whole centre of the park from the terraces downward is an incoheren...

At last the great white elephant of south London will be full for a couple of evenings, while giving us younger locals a great night out. Congratulations to whoever was able to pull that off! And, before anyone complains, it’ll all be finished by 10:30pm, and I’m sure the train and bus station will ...

any decent bathroom fitters in lawrie park area?

I've had no joy with yellow pages.

It's not a big job, just a bit of plumbing and plasterting.

Any suggestions?
