And... the boogers have dug up the traffic island on the corner of Kirkdale/Wells Pk Rd which means you now have to walk across 3/4 'lanes width' of traffic to get across! Not a safe junction, methinks. Gaz, I reported that island removed by Thames Water to Lewisham Council about 6 weeks ago and it...

An 8wk estimate from Tuesday 5th May takes us to Tuesday 30th June, 2wks today. We shall see! Barty - do you have any info on the below (i.e will the sidegate be locked after 8pm as it is at FH)? This reminds me. Over at FH station it seems that Southern have reneged on their commitment to keep the...

Hi Lee, Ok, my tuppence worth..! I really like the art deco look and the logo is dignified and simple - and I do like it how it is - however, perhaps it is a bit too understated? Did you play around with having the Kente in bold type (like above) and the 'Coffee Shop' in the thin type (again ...

I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised that Kirkdale and Wells Park Road were so quiet at 1830 this evening. I was expecting the Kirkdale diversion at Cobbs corner was going to take the trafffic up Jews Walk or Wells Park Rd but it must instead be directing it up Syd Hill. It is depressing, th...

so....is the gate on platform 1 now open? i havn't been there for weeks. It's still a sealed off building site where the side-gate used to be. They reckoned it would take 8 weeks which takes us to the end of June for completion. However, see my post above though - I think there's a danger that this...

This reminds me. Over at FH station it seems that Southern have reneged on their commitment to keep their sidegate open past 8pm now that they have barriers fitted. It appears that the original design spec included a remote-operated gate which was then dropped during the build. As such, Southern are...

I get really annoyed with cars that do not stop at zebra crossing - esp when I've planted one foot off the kerb! Is there a phone-line, or better still, an email address at the cop-shop where you can complain about the cars and supply their registration number? 999 if the car is driving dangerously...

Pub purchasers
It seems that the owners of the Sun & Doves in Camberwell want to buy a freehold pub in Forest Hill (with the Forest Hill Hotel being mooted). http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1860&page=1 Any chance that our esteemed posters in the know/or the SydSoc could point them towards the ...

Why drive to Sava Centre. Take a bus or walk. Very true. Unfortunately one also needs to get back again, and eighteen bags of shopping make walking, or even taking the bus, problematical. Regards Chris Why not get a bag on wheels? we have a family of five and do all our shopping on foot. It's easy ...

At the risk of going off-topic; if the Forest Hill swimming pool is built on Willow Way within the next couple of years (WW is the junction the new Tesco is situated) that would certainly help revive Kirkdale. I believe Lewisham have now distributed leaflets regarding the options and you can also ha...

Yep, I popped in at 9pm on the way back from work and it was so refreshing to see quality fresh fruit and food on the shelves in a local shop! Quite a few people in there and plenty of staff about - the people on the tills really impressed with their friendliness. Let's hope they keep the standards ...

Great idea to get the kids thinking like this, Mrs SJME, i.e. to not just accept the status quos of the world but to challenge and think of ways to improve it (or leave it untouched!). For what it's worth, I know that the idea of shutting the high street to traffic is impractical all the time cars r...

Actually I don't think I care anymore. I was walking down Lordship Lane, Dulwich, last night, looking at all the nice shops they have there. I got thinking that I should shop here more often. If I remember correctly there's only one bookie in Lordship Lane  Actually..! 8) There are 2 along LL ...
