I think this thread has gone a bit off track as it started out as a post regarding Bell Green and the main development issues surrounding it. However it is good to discuss the state of the main high street and see a lot of conflicting but interesting points of view. I have just been over to Pete's, ...

Stripping the staircase

You have my sympathy and admiration! We stripped our staircase and the handrail and spindles. However we found like you that it was a nightmare, with all that black tar stuff dripping everywhere, once you penetrate every layer of paint. We tried as much as possible to be eco friendly but in the end ...

I am thinking about the Resident's Association for Peak Hill Gardens and surrounding area very carefully. To be perfectly honest, when I was approached by the group opposing the closing off of the roundabout entrance to Spring Hill, I felt unable to voice my preference for it being closed off. I jus...

Thanks for your response. I would be interested to know if, as you say 9 people out of 80 voted in favour of resident permit parking, did the other 71 dismiss it out of hand? There seems to me an awful lot of local apathy regarding the state of this area and before people get all indignant, I don't ...

I agree with Sarahc, I'd much rather have a coffee shop any day of the week or yes, even a Disney Store come to think of it, than a nail bar or a pound shop. How depressing.

Sydenham Station Parking/Access to up platform

Oops - I keep getting misunderstood! I didn't mean Sydenham Society were selfish - I meant people in general! Incidentally, does anyone know what happened to the proposed development of the old Regency Snooker club into flats? We went to Lewisham Library to view the plans and put comments in....

New Coffee Shop for Sydenham

I agree wholeheartedly that what Sydenham needs is a rather upmarket trendy coffee shop. Costa, Cafe Nero or whatever. I love Chef's Delight and all the memories it holds for me and my children when we were all a little younger but times move on - Chef's will always have a loyal and steady clientell...

Sydenham Station Train Access

Actually Pat we were rather hoping for 'residents parking only' even if it is only between the hours of say midday to 14.30 (as most of the residential areas in Bromley are designated). The volume of parking in Peak Hill Gardens has increased immeasurably since the gates were opened permanently. The...

Car Vandalism

Thanks for your responses. Sorry if I gave the impression that it was someone using the station, what I meant to infer was that they probably escaped that way. Lets face it, people who engage in this sort of criminal damage actually have to go out armed with the chemicals or material to inflict the ...

Car vandalism - Second time victims

We went out this morning to find that some really charming low life had sprayed paint stripper all over our car. We live in Peak Hill Gardens and the only other car that was 'done' was some poor young chap's little mini that had obviously been lovingly looked after and who probably didn't have fully...

Massive fight in the Greyhound Car park

It all took off in the Greyhound car park on Thursday 15th December just after midnight. Did anyone else witness this? We heard lots of screaming and shouting and suddenly there were about 20 to 30 people screaming and laying into some bloke. We called the police as it didn't look good and the man w...

Meet & Greet - Wednesday 17th

We attended the Meet & Greet as planned and felt that it was a very positive step forward and also understand that Cynthia and staff have their work cut out to make this pub a success. Quite clearly the Brewery also need to commit the resources and support as without this it will be difficult to...

The Greyhound - Notice of Licensing Hearing

Just to let you know we have been informed (as interested party and possible objectors) that there is to be a licensing hearing on Monday 20/6/06 at 7.30pm. We are going to attend and have our say - we are filling in a form requesting to speak at this hearing. Not sure if it is a public hearing but ...

The Greyhound

The Greyhound car park is not the right site for a boot sale. It has been tried too many times. What the pub needs is to be run by a couple to give it a nice cosy, family feel. I think they are targetting the wrong client group at the moment. As has been previously mentioned in this thread it used t...

Thanks Illuminance for giving us the address and phone no. to contact Mitchell & Butlers. I am sending a letter to them today setting out our concerns. We will also be taking some digital photos and sending these too. (Although there is no contact e-mail address on their website.) I might have t...

CPZ

Personally we would welcome a 'residents parking only' zone where we live. It is a real nightmare trying to park anywhere near our home. What with the commuter parking (for Sydenham railway station) and customers of LA Fitness parking all hours. We would happily pay £30 per year (x2) if it stops thi...

The Greyhound

Oh dear - bad news. Having just walked by the Greyhound we noticed 2 official looking blue stickers in the windows of the pub. We went to have a read and they are applying for 'extended opening hours and a 'relaxation' to their entertainment license' This is seriously bad news for all resident...
