Re: Dangerous Dog Baxter's Field

If the dogs aggression is purely directed at another dog or cat then it would be pretty hard to prove it is a "dangerous dog" within the meaning of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. It has been previously accepted by the courts that dogs can and do attack other dogs and it can be inherent in th...

Re: Uninhibited parking Cobbs and Lawrie park rd

That being said, do I expect a club to manage where people park? No. That is wholly the responsibility of the local council and authorities. The club staff have no right to prevent people parking where they should not and we should not be holding them accountable for such. If anything we should be ...

So, in comparison to your "top ten" posters 5 years ago what does the ranking look like now?

Re: Change in speed restriction on Sydenham HIll 30m/h to 20

 Rachael, are you sure the police enforce it as Lewisham is decriminalised, such that the council issues fines rather than police putting speeding points on licence. No, that's incorrect. Some, though not all, non-endorsable (I.e. You don't get points on your license) traffic offences have bee...

News Shopper article here.......... http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/11576116.Cat_killed_and_dog_in_critical_condition_following_double_dog_attack_in_Lewisham/ A rather depressing comment from the dog owner after this article, police just don't seem to be interested in this sort of incident. It's ...

Re: Dangerous Dog - Brutal Attack on Queensthorpe Road

Eagle, on the facts stated it would seem that the only legal mechanism to address this incident would be a complaint to a magistrate under the Dogs Act 1871 which empowers magistrates to issue an order for the destruction of the Dog.

Re: Dangerous Dog - Brutal Attack on Queensthorpe Road

Mary, "dangerously out of control" within the meaning of the Dangerous Dogs Act means posing a danger to people: either injuring them (the aggravated version of the offence) or putting people in fear of danger. If the aggression was purely towards the cat then the offence is not made out. ...

Re: Dangerous Dog - Brutal Attack on Queensthorpe Road

Unfortunately a dog killing a cat is not a "Dangerous Dog" within the meaning of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. As a cat owner and lover myself I find it extremely distasteful. You, or the police , can make an application to a magistrates court under the Dogs Act 1871 to have the dog destroy...

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

I still don't understand how it is "selfish" to park on a public highway Eagle. We have all paid for their upkeep through taxation equally. Fair enough mumcah, some shift workers etc. may need a car I suppose, however, most don't need one. Plus, if it was that essential to have a car and o...

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

Why is parking in a public road selfish?

A highway is public property and local residents have no greater right to park there than anyone else. If you want a guaranteed place to park why now buy a house with a drive? You don't need a car in london anyway.

I am one-fingered typing at the moment due to an injury inflicted at work so I shall be brief. The system in place for sending group emails out automatically populates the BCC field. It would have to be a conscious effort to paste them into the CC field. I can't comment on the security of the databa...

Re: Alarm going off in upper sydenham?

It should cut out within 20 minutes. If it doesn't then you can call the environmental health team who have powers to enter premises and turn it off manually at the expense of the owners. I jest, of course, it does seem like an attractive option for some sections of he community though when it is so expensive to dispose of items and the Love Lewisham process is so efficient.

Re: Stabbing on a train

Rod, the provisions of the criminal justice and public order act 1994 are rather different from PACE and misuse of drugs act stop and searches. The two are very different beasts and shouldn't really be equated. Is the Met *still* a racist organisation? Can you evidence that? Do you actually understa...

Re: Stabbing on a train

I think you're right Tim: however, I'd have expressed it slightly differently. There is a problem when the experiences, values, thought processes and culture of the police is markedly different to society at large. The simple fact is that the police live in something if a different world to the rest...
