could be right, then. I'd imagine the towpath went with the canal. the tow path could have been left as a right of way. if , as you said, people continued to use it, and, acted as a boundary ... it would be interesting to see if ther e are any records of the work building the crematorium, or the gen...

...looking at the contour map.... it would seem that the 'loop' accross devonshire rd would have had to be on and embankment across to garthorne rd.....theres at least a 20ft difference.. also, if the 'rope walk' bush thing is still there next to the boat inlet...then the nature reserve should still...

thinking logically... a lock would have a standard footbridge accross the lock, being narrow. a swing bridge would be where the canal narrows like at Dartmouth Arms, where the road isnt too important,. sometimes there would be a swing bridge before a lock, but not often. I dont reckon there were 30 ...

i'm glad you put that image in....i'd forgotten that view. well...it could be the dead lane lock (number 22)...it certainly looks like one tree hill...however... I dont think there were ever houses on one tree hill, and itappears too close to the canal... I reckon its artistic licence again...its ne...
