Urgent - Peugeot Mechanic

Hi all,

I have an urgent need for a mechanic as my Peugeot has just developed a fault and needs to be working for a big trip on Thursday first thing.

Any numbers or names really appreciated.

Many thanks

Kerfuffle at Beltwood House

Hi all, Too nosey for my own good but I've seen the police at Beltwood House three times in the last ten days. Today there is a police van and a police car both with their lights flashing.... Anyone know what is going on? It's been nice and quiet since the ASBO, I hope this isn't the start of the ne...

Home Park Adventure playground?

Hi - can anyone add some information to this? I have been to a couple of council run adventure playgrounds with my kids, but on the lewisham website have just seen one listed. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is it a sort of playground, or more like a youth group hall? Home Park Adventure ...

Re: Water rates - quick question

Thanks for the tips. It does seem like £48 a month is on the steep size and I wondered whether the meter may be at fault. Strangely Thames water have written back to say I'm paying £19 a month when I can clearly see £48 going to them each month for the past two years so perhaps there is an accountin...

Water rates - quick question

Like a lot of people I've been looking at my outgoings recently and while I've been able to reduce a lot of costs there is one bill that is really bugging me. We pay £48 a month for water which, to me, seems very high. We don't water the lawn, we take an average number of baths etc and we even have ...

I looked to see if Lewisham offer anything similar but they don't. Looks like your council are less crazy than mine......

Free Trees

While chasing up the local Tree Team at Southwark Council (three weeks with no response) I came across this little gem. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/505/trees/564/trees_for_free Yes, you can seriously get free trees paid for by my council tax. Appreciate I'm in danger of ranting but I find it as...

Re: local history challenge

Thanks so much to everyone for all their leads (and interest). I approached the teacher in charge of the evening a couple of days ago, and asked her for enlightenment. She admitted she doesn't know either, the deputy head set the question! As soon as I see DH, I'll beg for the answer, for the sake o...

I haven't the foggiest although I have discovered that Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow and the Crystal Palace were both designed by Paxton.

Lord Panmure and Florence Nightingale both have a strong link to the Crimean war.

No closer to the solution.......

local history challenge

We went to a local primary school event last night, to see exhibitions of children's work. They had been looking at local history, particularly Mr Horniman, and Louise House (no link!). There was a challenge set: "what is the link between Kelvin Grove, Panmure Road and Florence Nightingale and ...

Eliot Bank School's Summer Fair - 10 July 2010

Eliot Bank Primary School's summer fair is being held on Saturday 10 July, 11am to 2pm. There's enough to keep the whole family happy, with cake, plant, sweet, toy, book and pocket money stalls, plus a tombola, lucky dip, bouncy castle and face painting. A BBQ will be sizzling and there's also a ref...

How much for a cheeseburger and chips? Go on? Have a guess. £12, that's how much. The chips were awful and very few of them. The cheeseburger had been very delicately kissed by cheese. So little that I wondered whether it had been shown the cheese down a phone line..... Why oh why oh why do I do thi...

Girl Guides- Rainbows

Hi all-
My daughter is itching to join the Girl Guides' Rainbows group for 5-7 yr olds. Does anyone know a group locally? (I'm in Upper Sydenham, and with current traffic issues, would love to find one as close as possible! :o) )

Thanks for any tips in advance

Having great difficulty getting wheels at the moment. Will probably end up loitering at the dump tomorrow, if you see a bearded ...

Wanted - Old wheels etc for Scouting go-kart race

Hi all,

A local Scout group is having a go-kart competition next month.

Does anyone have any old wheels (prams, bikes etc) or strong wood, steering wheel or seat to help us create a go-kart for this competition?

It would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

You're happy that the Government give millions to the unions from the taxpayer and then the Unions give millions to the Labour party? UNITE are placing candidates in literally dozens of Labour safe seats across the UK - I, for one, have more of an issue with that than an individual who pays tax on h...

First of all, my sympathies to 'Familyguy' and his family: what a terrible thing to happen. My children are at the same school as their older child, and the school sent a note home with all parents that day. I had no idea there were 2 similar incidents. And a neighbour told me today that there was a...
