Re: Reduction in services from London Bridge
I used to go from Penge East to St Pancras and I had to stop, because it was SO overcrowded that it made the journey unbearable, in addition to the trains frequently being cancelled/late. I switched to Sydenham to London Bridge and the mornings are significantly more enjoyable, however the evening s...

Oh my gosh how scary!
I was inches from being clipped by a bike on the pavement a few weeks ago, on Sydenham high street no less! Brazen buggers

Re: Noise issue in Newlands Park last night
The noise was coming from a flat in Homecroft Road, about a quarter of the way down on the east side. There's never been any issue or noise at either of the flats in the property before, so hopefully it's just a one-off. A bit odd to have such a party on a Tuesday night. I feel like such an old fart!

Noise issue in Newlands Park last night
Was just drifting off to sleep last night at 10.30pm when the most almighty racket started up from what I THINK was the Community Hall/New Testament Church. The bass was shaking my flat and neighbours started screaming out their windows for the noise to be turned down. Don't suppose anyone else hear...

Re: Sydenham Market is back on 2nd Saturday of the month
So past by the market today - 4 stalls which is a bit depressing. When are the representatives of SEE3 going to realise the market venture needs some outside (professional) help? And please no more replies stating that all that is required is more volunteers....Sydenham wake up and have more ambiti...

Re: driving and phones
Quite correct Its like walkers with head phones get upset when mugged. Of course I am not supporting mugging , but people do ask for it nowadays. Walking along staring at their mobile miles away if an open opportunity for crime. When outside either walking , driving or running one should be aware o...

Re: New Cafe
Ooh will have to give this a try!
I really love Shirin, which is across the road from On The Hoof, really delicious food but sadly they never seem that busy which is a shame.

Re: driving and phones
Pretty sure I read a report somewhere before that said you are more distracted talking on a hands free set than you are with having a conversation with a passenger. Not to sound like a complete luddite, but its such a shame that we are never really 'off the grid' anymore. Always contactable. Always ...

Re: Begging around Sainsburys Local
Terribly sad. I have been approached a few times by people in borderline hysterics - someone has died and they need to get home, they have left a violent partner, been robbed themselves - every time my immediate response is ' Oh myg osh are you ok' but when I offer to go buy a ticket or say I don't ...

Changing the speed limit
Off the back of yesterdays tragic events, I was wondering about the speed limit on some of the local roads. Living on Newlands Park, seeing cars speeding at sometimes clearly more than 50/60mp when its clear had be wondering on what the actual speed limit was. I noticed yesterday that there are sign...

Absolutely tragic.
Poor poor family, often wonder what the benefit is of chasing a stolen car through suburban streets.

Tree cutbacks
Hi everyone The (I assume) council have cut back the trees outside my house on Newlands Park and I assume quite a few more are in for the same fate. I assume its been done to cut off the dead parts so it can grow back healthier? Is there a reason though, that it has to be done now, and not in autumn...

Re: Co-operative Food store to rebrand as a Budgens store
Lidls is just depressing, and the queues are always massive. I do go in there to get my flowers though, they seem to last double the time as anywhere including the florist with the stall outside Tesco metro, talk about overpriced! twenty quid for a bouquet that died in three days!

Re: Sydenham Cars SHOCKING
Quite right about the decline in black cabs though. Their slugglish refusal to move with the times and extortionate fares are the death sentence for them. Back in the day they were revered because of the extensive knowledge of the roads but with the invention of sat nav its kind of a moot point. I h...
