Re: Planning - CAB unit change of use to restaurant
Dear Prince, Just because the don't tell you the minutiae, doesn't mean the Syd society isn't doing stuff. We're you at the agm? Hello JRW, Thank you. I am aware that the Sydenham Society does a lot behind the scenes. I was not able to make the Agm meeting. However all I was asking was what they ha...

Cycle Path Sydenham Hill
Evening all,
I saw the nicest thing, the segregated cycle lanes up Sydenham Hill which was a dodgy place to navigate on a bike. I think it is Southwak Council who did the work but I’m happy to be corrected if I’m wrong. Either way we’ll done!!

I'm certain I'm on shaky ground quoting the News Shopper but is there any truth in this?

The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building
Hello, there is a school extension in on Sydenham Road which look like it belongs in a out of town shopping centre......in the late 1980's. Does anyone know how it passed planning? I don't wat to be rude but It's comically bad.

Re: Lewisham Council and Trees
The three remaining mature cherry trees in Knighton Park Road are marked for destruction - ‘major tree works’ taking place tomorrow. No doubt we’ll get some skinny twigs to replace them. Our three bone idle and entitled councillors won’t be getting my vote in a few weeks. . Yep seems about right. T...

Morining,
I've been told off for being a bit rude so I'll be nice. Does Wesley Hall need a good scrub?

Once-healthy young oak felled by Lewisham Council in Beckenham Place Park along with hundreds of others. Going going, gone.

Re: New yoga studio?
It was hyperbole, yes, but I am frustrated with planning delays and objections to things that would improve the area. I don't know about that. It feels like gerrymandering. Keep the middle classes out to keep it labour. Sorry Appletree I removed Tims comment. I don't believe you were being hyperbol...

Re: New yoga studio?
You'd think on a dying high street in 2018 the council would have a conversation with the applicant rather than just rejecting the application like it was 1908. The world has moved on and these bureaucrats just seem to like to say no. It's complete bollocks. I think lack of time in drastically redu...

Lewisham Council misbehaving again!
A comfortable and complacent council not caring about those of us who live here. How much longer are they going to treat us like crap.

High Street shopping
So to support the high st I went to Lordship Lane on the way home and got 30 mins of being treated rudely in the bank and then ripped off in the diy store who sold me a product that was probably a quarter full. It's isn't Amazon that's killing the high street it the sometimes rude and horrible peopl...

Hey all thanks for your replies. If it's not possible to have trees would planters be acceptable? I think a general greening of Sydenham would be nice.

2018 wish list
Evening all, I must say I have noticed an improvement in Sydenham especially the work the street cleaners are doing. Now this isn't a Sydenham bashing post, I'd like a list of positive proposals and perhaps we could chose a top three to peruse as a team? Let me know what you think and I hope you all...

Any news on this proposal ? Hi, Nandos informed me before Christmas that they are currently in the process of submitting information to discharge their planning conditions. The landlord also needs to undertake some work to the premises which they said should be early in the New Year. Hey Prince, Ha...

Re: Waste Collection
I agree. I've noticed I don't have to clean rubbish out of my front garden as frequently as I used to. The street cleaners do a great job. It's a shame they had to work on Boxing Day though. What was the point in that when most people are away.

A A bus lane along the east (towards Penge) side of Lawrie Park Road. Despite being a wide road the ever expanding width of modern cars is making it impossible for two buses (or lorries) to pass each other easily. This frequently leads to complete blockage and complicated backing to sort and a ridic...
