Re: No Trains Sunday 15th

Im not so sure. Just looked and it looks like Southern trains are running. there are works from New Cross going north for part of the day, and works between Sydenham and Crystal Palace...but it looks like Southern trains to and from London Bridge are running....best check though!

Lewisham Adult Ed

Does anyone know who made the stupid and incompent decision that anyone who wants to enroll on an adult education class has to do in person rather than on the phone like the past years? waiting in a queue now for possibly about 3 to 4 hours. i cannot do anything else in this time. in this day and ag...

If you felt intimidated, you should speak to the police or even just the neighbourhood police. That way they can keep an eye on things

Re: Suspicious Activity Around Westwood Hill / Hall Drive

Thanks for warning. One of my neighbours saw some suspicious activity around Halifax Street off Kirkdale about a month or so ago, but nothing actually happend. The police were quick to respond though. I was mugged on a train coming into Sydenham at midday last September, phone was taken and i was ab...

I think the bakery is a great asset, but i like the other correspondents mention, wish they did more of a selection of breads, especially some artisan ones. They would defo get my business and others i am sure as well

Re: Forest Hill Elisnore Road Incident Meeting

Oh dear I have seen some ridiculous statements before on this forum, but the above really do go beyond the norm. If this is the sort of thing you really think, then good luck to you. This forum used to be really interesting and informative and an asset to the community; its just not worth it anymore.

Re: The Woodman

I live in the road, and feel its a shame that the old stables of the pub are to be demolished due to this development. They may not be of much architectural importance but its another nail in the coffin of conservation and they are a link to the old pub itself...trouble is, all that it is being repl...

Re: Proposed closure of Sydenham police station

As a paid up member of the Sydenham Society, can i ask what the Sydenham Society issue is here? I would rather we had a constructive discussion on the whole issue here. I want to see a police presence in the area, possibly as a pop in shop, but see no reason to keep the large building open on Dartmo...

Re: PRINTMAKING IN SYDENHAM

Just want to follow on from Chris's comment and say CEL offer excellent classes of very good standard and even though i pay full wack, i think the cost is incredibly reasonable. I have been doing the screen printing class for a year or so now, and before that etching, and would recommend it fully

Re: PRINTMAKING IN SYDENHAM

HI Jim. i dont know of any specifically, but would second your request as i do screen printing as well. I know of studios up near London Bridge which charge about £50 a day or something similar, with a joining fee, and looks like good facilities. I do all mine in at Lewisham Adult Ed centre near Lew...

Re: Mugging on bishopsthorpe road

that is shocking. I was mugged about 2 months ago on a train coming in to Sydenham, he took my phone which again was immediately stopped so do not understand the logic. I did find tghe police brilliant though, but it is amazing that this can happen so often, and so brutally. As you say the phone is ...

LA Fitness Incentives

I joined LA Fitness back in April of this year, and as an incentive, LA Fitness promised to pay a friend who referred me, £25 within 3 months of my membership. I then myself referred a another friend in July with the same incentive that i would receive the £25 within 3 months. Both payments have not...

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station

Interesting point Bensonby. I have to admit i have often thought the crossing on the bridge was very badly positioned, but have always wondered if there has actually been an accident on the crossing to date, and maybe it was just me who was being over cautious? I think sometimes in this day and age ...

Re: Tesco in Kirkdale

I felt the same about the boarding up, so i wrote to Tesco via there website about 2 weeks ago, and within 10 minutes of sending the email someone phoned me from Tesco to hear what i had to say. They said the manager is trying to get it sorted, but it does seem weird that this sort of thing takes so...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

still seems abit weird...they go to the bother of getting onto a first floor canopy, in front of loads of people, dragging a ladder to get to the second floor....when there are loads of first floor windows much more easily accessible! Oh well...i dont know anyone in the offices so we will probably n...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

yes normal people would....but considering this is in front of aload of people on the ground, a bus, plus everyone else going on, they were not exactly taking there time in shifting the 'stolen' goods...why burgle a building like this when they can go around the back and get in without people knowin...

I can categorically say, this was no burglary in full view of everyone else down below! This is getting into more of a problem...people...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

Just come back from a walk around. All shops are shut, people walking around, but no problems what so ever. It feels like a Sunday in the 1970s. I was sent home as work locally at lunchtime, although you can never be too careful, it does feel like a waste of time, and a feeling that something has go...
