Re: How Cobbs Corner is changing

I don't agree about Cobbs Corner Cafe! Its a darn sight better than some of the other shop/cafe fronts around!

Re: Why high streets die

We are incredibly lucky in Sydenham to have a free car park just off the High Street and within walking distance of all shops up to Cobbs Corner! So if you really have to drive to Sydenham it is so easy to park! Frankly I have no idea why local people drive here ...walking, biking and good bus serv...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

I am most certainly not advocating personal attacks on anyone. However, reading through the thread and the Philip Neri one there are a number of occasions where you JRW have given facts from your perspective presumably with evidence and someone else has given facts that contradict yours also presuma...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

as it is clearly cost prohibitive to keep the entire structure as is, my preferred choice would be for them to be dismantled, and cleaned up, the site cleared, cleaned, and de-toxificated (if that's a word), then some new development, suitably none-bland, including affordable housing (properly affo...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

As for those who know the site only too well - the lingering stink and pollution that blighted the whole of Bell Green (and much of Perry Hill) is something we would very much like to forget and remove. Forgive us if the romanticism of those that wish to retain the ironwork as a memory of those tim...

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018

This has been going on for years now, and St Philip Neri's immediate neighbours have been through a lot. Demonising works both ways, and the school has never stated their own position on the development, and then claim to be misrepresented because we are not telepathic. The documents are not availa...

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018

I agree Stuart as do a few others evidently! I really hope that work on addressing building issues can continue without demonising members of our community ! I made a similar point earlier. Also the point raised by Jolly is very pertinent re the children who can read the fliers!!!

Re: fake Big Issue seller?

Yes - I agree with you RedSyd. This thread is about a specific Sydenham issue which you have answered succintly. National & international dividing issues about crime, race, liberalism, slavery and German motors are in danger of leaking across from the place set aside for it - The Pub. IMHO the ...

For heaven's sake Tim. This is not a conspiracy. I am local, and want to do something myself. I am willing to do the necessary work, so i asked to involve the Syd Soc, as they exist, have excellent connections, the ability to circulate a large proportion of the community on social media,, and are g...

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018

I have pasted below an email I have sent to the Syd Soc chair, in response to last night's events. Hi Annabel, ........ You did absolutely the right thing in apologising, given we had to accept their statements on face value, but now I have had the chance to re check the documentation, I am in orbi...

Roads off Kent House Rd are nice - turn right into Hillmore Grove and have a look. Also some nice flats conversions in Newlands Park. Byne Road and the other roads round there have nice houses too. Sorry but not sure about prices

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018

The Sydenham Society tweet is shocking. I am sure the school are rightly furious about such inflammatory and I suspect inaccurate statements being put out there ...."no insurance" ...I don't believe that is true, no school would be that stupid, and I would be interested to hear where the S...
