You MAY be able to pursaud your landlord to retro-fit noise dampeners in the ceiling, but that would probably ...

I've been following the plan for months, but even I was really pleased when I saw the massive drawing outlining the entire project hanging from the ceiling in the old booking hall. I'd love a copy for my wall. It really is great isn't it? I honestly can't find an single thing I object to. (and that ...

The other online forum I take part in regularly organise social events. I confess I've never been to one because I'm a bit scared! But what the hell, it's local and I'm not doing anything on Tuesday night. I'm in. Unless I chicken out at the last minute, of course. Now to explain to my flatmate that...

Proms in the park - a positive thread about our area!

So who went, and who enjoyed it?

I know it was organise by the evil LDA and took place at the ugly concert bowl, but some of you MUST have some positive comments about the programme! Especially the afternoon practice sessions - which were totally free! Can't say better than that.

it was a "case history"-type story about closing pubs, involving a short bit of background and then a live interview with a couple of experts. Someone from Camra and Pat Trembath, I think.

I'm still indifferent about the Greyhound's future, but am luvin' the debate.

Thanks for the update. It’s quite refreshing to see how those who are in favour of the improvements intend to be every bit as vocal as the opponents!

can you imagine their reaction if the LDA decided to put a huge multistory entertainment complex on the top site. You know, a bit like the Cyrstal Palace!

They're no longer planning to build on open parkland. They're planning to build on a quarter of the existing caravan park site, and return the rest of it to open park. A net increase of open park of three acres. The other bit of housing will either be on the site of an existing park-keepers house do...

I too attended the first part of Friday's session, mainly to learn how the master plan was developing. I have to say that I was greatly impressed by the LDA's proposals, and sickened by the rent-a-mob mentality of the opponents. The LDA had clearly gone to great lengths to incorporate many of the su...

Another point to make is that the consultation process is responding to external events - which require constant revisions to the plans. Some of what I would call the "obstructionist" minority appear to view these changes as some kind of evil conspiracy, which of course it's not. For examp...
