Re: Searching Dallas Rd
Hello there, I am a novice on the forum sadly I do not know how to post a photo on the site. I agree with you that the estate at the top of Sydenham Hill opposite the park stands up quite well against many.It was sad to see our open spaces go, but for the most part these flats were built on land whi...

Re: Willow Walk
Hello there I have just seen the posting on Willow Walk.I used to cut through Willow Walk on my way to the local Grammar School each day, and my brother later worked for The Express Dairy there. Willow Walk some times called Willow Way by us, was a curved road cutting through between Kirkdale and Da...

Re: Prospect Place, Wells Road
Hi Tigger, as you would expect I can remember The Monastery. The older boys had a dirt trck in the middle of the woodlands there, where they used to race their bikes. There was a large pond at the Wells Park Road end too and allotments where we could still get soft fruit etc and make a camp. Then ther...

Re: Mount Ash Road
Hi there, I have just read the message from Bing Bong ref Panmure Road and Mountain Ash. My mother talked of the bomb that dropped on Panmure Road.It blew all the windows out of the houses at the top of Bradford Road and the shop on the corner opposite the mission hall where she was living at the ti...

Re: Searching Dallas Rd
I was fascinated to read the message from 'squibs' regarding his gt gt grandfather a retired police constable living at 27 Dallas Road.On the 1881 Census he is shown as such. The remarkable thing is that my gt grandfather Kossuth Moorlen is also shown on this page.He was then a serving Police Constab...

Re:
Are you sure it wasn't Prospect Road? According to Kelly's Directories Frederick George was living at 52 Prospect Road during the 1920s and 1930s (I don't have access to post-war records from home). This map shows Prospect Road which was, indeed, a dead-end: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3320/3412...

Re: London City Mission, Wells Park Road
It was lovely to see the image of The London City Mission hall, and read of other peoples memories. I have very fond memories of Mr Bulpitt.I lived in Bradford Road (no 33 )from the 1940's through to the 1960's, my grandmother Kate Myerson lived there all her married life, and her daughters Betty, G...
