Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Curiosity got the better of me too, so I have come home. Just walked past Kente and there is a guitarist and a flautist jamming away while people sip their tea and coffee. Good on them.

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Just spoke to our insurance company to see whether insurance advice was playing a hand. The advice given was to "aways act as if you don't have insurance" which does rather explain things. I also hear that Sydenham DIY are helping the shops with the task, so there is at least an underlying...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Whilst removing high value goods is warranted, Boarding up is worrying and would seem to me to be the wrong response. As has been previously suggested, we need to be visible on the streets of Sydenham this evening and protecting our community by showing shopkeepers and business owners our support. I...

Theft on the High Street
I just witnessed one of the female friends of the street drinking crew, shoplifting, getting caught and then getting ejected from Superdrug. She had been seen peeling the security tag off a mascara and eventually gave up a number of items and ran off. It was very difficult for the security guard as ...

Re: Say NO to taking territories.
I'm afraid I dont have time to come down and protest.
If you want to enlist support it would be great if you could make it easier for people to be involved
I would suggest an online petition or a pre-drafted letter with an email address that can be sent to councillors......

Re: New “shop” on Sydenham Road
I was one of the locals who objected to their planning application, and this was upheld. I saw recently that they had appealed the decision. Whilst I can understand how relgious practice can give people some necessary structure and support in their lives, this sort of church is simply repugnant to m...

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
I don't necessarily want money spent blindly on addional police walking the beat (I am not sure there is a cost benefit?), I do want money/resource spent on dealing with the problems surrounding those disaffected in society, i.e. prevention rather than cure in the truest sense. In short - I just wan...

Penge East Station - Road Closed
Road is closed from the Penge end of Newlands Park with buses / traffic being diverted. Looks like some sort of accident / incident, lots of police tape, so best to avoid the area. Trains are not stopping either.

Re: Gatecrashers spoil wedding party.....
It would seem that whoever it was who wasted eveybody's time by making the false accusation in the first place is at fault, not the police. All this media led blame-culture sensationalism nonsence is so depressing. Find a minority group, misrepresent the facts and expect a load of ooh's and aaah's. ...

I frequent The Dolphin and in defense of it, most of the staff are really polite helpful and the food is generally good. It must be very difficult to walk the fine line between quality and value for money and this applies to both the food served and the staff employed. The wine list is great - well ...
