Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights/Beer Rebellio
No work yet on the outside but I saw a picture of the bar and the ceiling had been completely removed so obviously work is ongoing.

Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights
I'm guessing but 5 or 5:30 till 11 Monday to Friday and open from 12 on Saturday is likely. Think those are the times for the Gipsy Hill one, which is comparable.

Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights
Cheers Stuart. One thing I would say is that when we first set up we did encounter some resistance from certain individuals in existing groups who perhaps saw us a threat. I won't claim to know what all the different community groups in Sydenham do, but I know that Penge was poorly served by social ...

Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights
The Alex will be reopening late January. Thanks for the kind words about the PTB. I'm its Chairman. We set up about 18 months ago because a few of us were fed up grubbing around other area's local forums (including this excellent one) and facebook groups trying to find out what was going on in Penge...

Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights
Others have suggested MArketplace too on the Penge Tourist Board fb group. Good for me if so, only 10 mins walk.

Re: Motorbikes riding on the pavement today in Sydenham High
What makes it all the more crackers is one of them lost a leg recently after trying to do stunts down Anerley Hill and ending up crashing into a cafe. The idiots doing it in Sydenham will be aware of the other clown's accident but it doesn't seem to matter. Oh the folly of youth...

Re: Motorbikes riding on the pavement today in Sydenham High
The police are well aware of them. It's happening all over the local area. There have been complaints of them groping females as they do so in Palace. The bikes are usually stolen and the perps chuck away their helmets if chased as they know the police can't risk chasing them like that. I'd still ad...

Re: Guardian's Let's Move To... feature
Does Sydenham have a totem like obvious spiritual focal point to use? I ask this because I don't know what it is rather than any mischief. Penge has the dinosaurs (they're in SE20) or the Watermans almshouses. S Norwood has the clock tower or the lakes. Upper Norwood has the transmitter or the subwa...

Lower Sydenham. Next to the railway line and short walk from the station
Footzies
Saw today that a re-development plan for the site (residential for nearly 300) was turned down recently. Can anybody tell me what goes on down there? Never seen any sports on the pitches, the boot fairs stopped a few years ago and the clubhouse is tiny. Seems like a waste of space that could be bett...

Must be another week away. They asked last week for views so I assumed it'd run this week. Clearly not.

Re: Over the border tomorrow
Hehe. Yes the library is on Green Lane. Parish Lane is where the Nurseries and Alex pub are. The event was heavily advertised on social media but was probably less visible outside of that. Something that should improve next year as we now have banner placements on lamp posts that will be self funded...

Re: Over the border tomorrow
It was a great weekend for buying local beer in Penge: the brewery shop was open and Alexandra Nurseries had a pop-up yesterday. I bought 10 beers in all; 6 from LK (Penge), 2 from Gipsy Hill (er GH!) and 2 from Brick (Brixton).

Re: Over the border tomorrow
The tasting wasn't IN the local eateries, it was next to the stage. It just involved them bringing platters along.

Re: Over the border tomorrow
There were 17 stalls in all, so you must have taken a wrong turning somewhere. There were also food tasting sessions with local eateries, though these had allotted times so you might have missed them. Lots of bands playing in Penge tonight at the Goldsmiths and BHT and during the day there was also ...
