Re: Station approach - new toilet

These could be enamelled (like the sign we did for Billings) or they could be painted or they could be perforated and back lit at night Both ideas sound fabulous to me. Where do we move from here? Who do we contact? How many of us need to support them to make someone take note and act accordingly?

Re: Car in Venner Square

Fantastic! We will be away but otherwise we wld be the first there - absolutely no point in moaning about things and not doing anything about it. I do wish I could have joined in though, however much I will love the sight of hot air balloons flying over Bristol over the next few days... good luck an...

Re: Thinking of buying - need some advice on the area

There have been quite a few posts from people who, like you, were planning to move here. You may find some of the information is out of date now, but basically there are still a lot of useful insights into our area - and I love it too, by the way: moved 5 years ago from central London and had never ...

Re: Carlton Terrace to be demolished?

One of our daughters has been looking for a HA property for years. Now with two kids and a rat infestation in their rented house (they've moved here temporarily while the council deals with the ghastly problem), this has become absolutely urgent. She is registered with all HAs in London but has not ...

Absolutely not just you. (Just hope the big tvs show all Arsenal games, that's all  ) Also spoke to landlord. He didn't know about the STF but he knows now and is very interested in reading comments & perhaps even registering as member. Showed me the garden... well, I don't know about your ...

Re: Street signs-advice please?

Thank you very much both of you. Yes, I have the Yell list in front of me and have already contacted 2 local - Sydenham based! - firms; they will get back to me when available.

The trophies shop: why didn't I think of that?? will pass by right now and enquire.

Thanks again.

Street signs-advice please?

We need two custom made external signs or plaques (engraved/etched metal) for wall mounting. We have googled lots of designers but would much rather support someone known and local. Any advice, please? Many thanks

Re: Golden Lion pub

I totally agree Rachael - I find it beautiful; I also loved the little I was able to see inside: I passed by a few hours before the official opening and there were workers everywhere but the flooring, tables, soft chairs and all the natural light coming from the French windows to the garden all seem...

Your Community Library needs you...

Run mainly by dedicated volunteers since 2011, our Library is now recruiting more volunteers so it continues to offer a vital resource for our Community. I worked in the Library for a period of time and was amazed at how much is going on as well as how many people’s lives are enriched by it. For fur...

Re: Dentist suggestion for scaredy cats?

I have "resurrected" this thread as I am so grateful for the people who posted on it. At the time it came out it was not an issue for me but while on holiday it became a massive one.... Being highly disenchanted with my now ex-dentist I tried Townley Road Dental Practice for a second opini...

Our society is sick Yes, I totally agree with your brilliant post - and so does the author of a book I happen to be reading right now (Will Hutton). He calls that sickness an amoral deficit of integrity and adds: Britain is beset by a crisis of purpose & British society is ever more fragmented ...

Re: THE LIBRARY OF THINGS

For quite some time now residents in 6 local roads have been developing strategies in order to work/live increasingly as a close knit community. Recently we have decided to make those links much more structured and clear so as to ensure all – old or young, with or without children, wealthy or financ...

I have had loads done at Top Quality Dry Cleaners in Westow Hill - C Palace triangle. The tailor they have there has been absolutely fantastic; last time I went he was fitting a highly sophisticated wedding dress on someone: he told me he can make clothes from scratch as well as alterations. The dry...

just passed by and was overjoyed to see a lone man sleeping in the little green van. I approached, apologised profusely for waking him up, and asked about progress. He said it was all on, everything was being done, all the men were working on it. I asked, tentatively, where all those men were - he s...
