Butters
Better than not checking at all but a potential mugger can get a long way in 10 steps.
Please when walking look at what is around you and the local scenery. Auntie Matilda does not need to speak to you every min of the day.

Re: Parking tickets
I am also shocked that more people are not booked. The number that , for instance , park right to the corner of a road where it joins another road , ignoring the number of yards one should not park.
If Lewisham claim to be short of money they could make a fortune policing their roads better.

Re: Ska/Reggae/Soul/Funk - Bricklayers Arms - Fri 23 Sep
I well remember The Brick in the good old days of the 70's when it was by far the best pub in the area with great beer and well run by Daisy and Tom. Plus they had a great piano with patrons singing to the Beach Boys etc etc.

Re: driving and phones
Quite correct Its like walkers with head phones get upset when mugged. Of course I am not supporting mugging , but people do ask for it nowadays. Walking along staring at their mobile miles away if an open opportunity for crime. When outside either walking , driving or running one should be aware of...

Re: Parking problems
Whilst I understand commuters come bottom of the pile , surely local business bring prosperity and jobs to the area so certainly should be joint number one , or even number one.

Re: Parking problems
Virtually all of Sydenham has a problem. Most roads built before the automobile.
Lewisham need to take drastic action to freeze out commuters .
CPZ is one option.

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation
True East Croydon more difficult especially with the revamp of the famous station.
With so many Overground services I suppose likely that rail space would call for some cutbacks.
At least we have the 194 and 75 Bus.

Re: driving and phones
Alburt Understand this law is abused by many. The same people that walk along the road not looking where they are going. Phones are the new God and must be on and accessable at all times. Parents should insist phones not brought to meal table . Penalties for phones in cars should be as tough as drin...

Of course at first only a small percentage will be caught. But if they are then taken to a prison cell , as drink driving and have to go to court and of course lose the license , the message may get home to all.

Re: Proposed Constituency Boundaries
Syd As you say we have been down that road with yet another stupid referendum. What is the point of MP's if we are going to ask the voters all the time. Agree FPTP not ideal but it is good having a local contact. Not totally against other systems being investigated. But please NO referendum. More ma...

Not sure but not quite the same
Phone directed at you and in the case of business calls you could be concentrating 95% on the call.
I do agree the wireless could divert attention , although the goings on in Ambridge unlikely to cause a crash.

Wise words Nigel. Text messages especially are a disgrace at the wheel.
Wise to so many people , many hopefully normal citizens , do this stupid action.

driving and phones
This is a modern menace that needs to be stamped out. HMG proposals for 6 points are useless. Should be treated the same as drink driving as quite as dangerous. Personally I think non hand held devices are nearly as bad. It is not the holding of the confounded device but the distract of the conversa...

I agree we need more marginal seats .
How do we know Lewisham west is not marginal , it used to be prior to Jim Dowd , John Maples before him being a Tory .
Maybe we underestimate Jim. Perhaps he has a large personal vote.

As long as a constituency is contiguous does it matter what areas it includes. The main think is population about the same.
Hopefully will produce a lot more marginal seats

Same size constituencies is a must , or near as possible.
I believe the people working it out are totally independent.
Surely Mr Dowd will not stand again. He can still visit beer festivals.
