Re: DEAR PROPERTY WORLD

Wow - this is amazing. Thank you (and your brother), Dan.

This has made me very well disposed towards PW - will keep them in mind when we sell.

Re: Does anyone else struggle with Wells Park Doctors?

They are awful. If I had any choice of another group practice in the area I would change doctors like a shot. They reception staff are rude and obstructive and never admit to making a mistake when they patently have - things like repeat prescription requests being left and then disappearing - they d...

Re: Big crash on Kirkdale last night

Just from the noise we could tell that a car was going much too fast, and certainly sounded like it lost control... going over grass and a garden fence sounds less lethal than smashing into a wall, I suppose. Small mercies... Haven't noticed all those speed bumps on the hill having much effect, thou...

If anyone is looking for inspiration before the meeting, can I suggest a look at http://emptyshops.wordpress.com/ - it's a very inspiring site.

Big crash on Kirkdale last night

We heard a car speeding, screech of brakes and huge bang, about half midnight last (Tuesday) night... not knowing where it had come from, we went outside to see what had happened - it was up the top half of Kirkdale, but seeing a crowd had already gathered thought we'd better leave them to it as the...

Driving lessons

I seem to be on here asking for contacts a lot recently - this time I am wondering if anyone could recommend a driving instructor? I've actually passed my test but it was a few years ago and I'd love some refresher lessons preferably in my own car or one similar (an Astra).

Thanks in advance.

Re: Sushi of Sydenham

I hope you do find a place in Sydenham... it would be wonderful to have a good Japanese restaurant nearby. I do like Edo but it isn't brilliant. The staff are very friendly though and my 2-year-old loves it. A straightforward place that did all the standard dishes but done properly (especially the t...

Re: Anyone recommend a plumber?

Thank you. I got a recommendation from a friend in the area in the end - I used Robert who apparently is also doing stand-up at the Sydenham Arts Festival! He was great, replaced the tap (actually bought the right tap for a Belfast sink), fixed a couple of other things while he was here and only cha...

Anyone recommend a plumber?

I have a small job that needs doing - just a tap that won't stop dripping (have replaced washer to no avail). Wondered if anyone could recommend someone reliable - thanks.

Re: Begging in Sydenham Road

I was approached by a white woman with dark hair tied back (looked to be in her 30s) on Sydenham Rd just down from the station on Friday. She sounds like the same one. She did look like she'd had a hard life and I assumed she had drink and drug issues. I just said no and kept walking I'm afraid.

Re: Stressed Out Mums/Carers

Hi Fatma, Have you considered being a homestart volunteer? http://www.home-start.org.uk/volunteer/volunteer It doesn't look like there currently is a Lewisham Homestart (there was from 1997-2001 but it ceased to exist), the nearest one would be Southwark. You could look into assembling a group of tr...

Re: Planning Applications for The Kirkdale Institute

I am boggling at some of the responses on this thread, especially those by mrchives. There are more children of primary school age living in the borough than there were. They need school places. There is an empty school building next to an existing school. It's not difficult. the noise from arrival ...

If ALIB's friends actually found the body and he can confidently say that foul play is not suspected isn't it most likely to have been a suicide?

Re: Local pre schools

My son's on the waiting list for Lammas Green pre-school. I love the atmosphere there and it's nice and small with about 30 kids attending. They are only open term time - if that's ok for you then pop in and see the manager to get an application form. Fees are very reasonable. They take them from tw...

Also on a Wednesday from 10-11.30 there's the Baby Gym (similar stuff to Toddler's World) at the Sydenham Hill Community Hall. IIf you don't know where that is - it's on the opposite side to the Dulwich Wood House, in the estate but visible from the road - a bit further towards the Kirkdale end of S...

Re: An idea: under 5s soft play club

There is the Grove Centre and Grove Centre House on Jew's walk - which are available to hire. Also St Bart's church hall is used as a preschool in the mornings but I think is free in the afternoons. There is 'Toddler's World' soft play every day 10-12 at Crystal Palace Sports Centre which isn't that...

Re: Attempted Burglary alert

There was another attempted burglary last night (Halifax St). Police came round about 10.45 to tell us they'd probably climbed through our back garden. They smashed a neighbour's window with a spade. Someone was home so I don't think they got in. Still really scary.
