Re: Reduced Southern service

Have you tried train to Norwood Junction and pick up the Thameslink? I think it's fast from there, but don't know when it runs.

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab

Last time round, where you were offered depended on how you booked. Sydenham Green was never an option on the NHS central booking site. We booked there via an invitation link sent by our GP. The implication in the letter I received the other day was, I thought, that GP surgeries weren't included on...

Re: Train noise

It's been ridiculously noisy tonight - possibly because of the still air? I don't normally notice the noise, but tonight I couldn't avoid it.

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab

My GP surgery in Anerley told me there had been delays in delivery of supplies of the "younger" flu jab, and booked me in for an appointment for when they do get some: DECEMBER! :(

Re: Reduced Southern service

I didn't think there were *any* trains this weekend? I'm very annoyed about this, too. I don't tend to use the service off Sydenham on a very regular basis, but the loop service to London Bridge is a "go-to" for me any time I need to work on the train, because it has tables! . I didn't ini...

Do you have any details? When is this? Seems to me a lot of the park has been closed off for much of the summer already.

Re: 75 and 194 buses on diversion

And the ongoing saga - is it still the same leak? A trench dug across the entire width of Parish Lane almost at the junction with Lennard Road. I'm told work won't be finished until after the weekend, so the buses are on the usual diversion via Lawrie Park.

Re: Pret a Manger Post-pandemic Expansion Plan

I really can't see Pret opening a branch in Sydenham - or even in Penge, for that matter. Indeed, on my relatively rare trips to London in recent months, I've been aware that one of the very few positive things to have come out of the pandemic is a culling of the excessive number of Pret branches in...

Re: Masks after 19th

I've read that the vaccine rollout has stalled as the govt bought too much AZ which cant be used on the under 30’s and is out of pfizer until spring 2022 so its going for herd immunity/ distraction. They cant admit this failure as the vaccine was the only thing keeping them popular. Really? Was it ...

All *3* tracks? Are you talking about the Southern section, the Southeastern section, or both? I must admit that I hadn't really noticed.

Re: Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich

We always were part of the Beckenham constituency - until the last time the boundaries were changed. A dead cert Labour MP versus a dead cert Tory one - not much of a choice.

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

It looks as though I may have to take someone who's chronically ill and won't be able to queue for any length of time for a second jab at Sydenham Green (the first was a home jab). I wondered if anyone could update me on what the situation's been like down there, in terms of queuing time, busyness, ...

Ironic - Burnham Way ...

I smelled it - I assume - somewhere in the region of the Alexandra Garden Centre, so the smoke must have travelled a long way.

Re: Masks - recycling

I went into Wilko's in Bromley the other week, and was surprised to see that they had by the checkouts a collection container for recycling single-use masks. This leads me to wonder whether there's also one in the Penge branch.

Alternatively, Terracycle run a mask recycling scheme ...

Re: The Alexandra - Fund to keep it going

I see the Alexandra has applied for a pavement licence (round the back - there's certainly not enough space at the front), and work of some kind was going on on the grassy space by the flowerbeds in Bycroft Street when I went past earlier today. Wishing them the best of luck.

Has anything happened on this? I've seen a couple of their boards around, but haven't been close enough to see what the phone number is.

Re: Who's standing in the Sydenham by election in May?

I've been very confused by the title of this post: why would Sydenham be having a by-election? Firstly, I wasn't aware that the present incumbent had stepped down, secondly the constituency is called something odd like West Lewisham and Penge, isn't it - I can never remember? Are we actually talking...
