Lee - can you not drop leaflets off to the business with coloured prints (we'd all chip in/help out) and is it possible you could 'knock up' what the street could look like incorporating a few shops in a row. Someone needs to actually put it into practice. Your ideas are superb. Was in the Trattoria...

... I was in bed with my gilrfriend the other night ... and outside we heard the urban foxes screaming and howling. She said it sounded like a fight between a cat and a fox. I said don't be silly - all they do is eat local waste and the odd discarded KFC - they won't attack a cat!!! But now, I reali...

trattoria raffaele
I've said it before and I'll say it again - what a great little place! Only been there the once before and I was impressed both times. Back again on a packed night on Friday and the food was excellent. Friendly manager who is from Italy originally - so he speaks fluent Italian an fluent 'Sarf London...

Bloody great news. Maybe Sydenham high street will finally begin to reflect its inhabitants. That's made me feel that strange day I spent posting all those leaflets around Silverdale was worth while. I definitely re-connected with my inner-paperboy that day. The London Overground extension and the h...

glad it's gone
I think it's incredibly telling that it's closed down. People need to wake up and smell the coffee (preferably cappuccino) Sydenham's demographic has changed. Have you seen the amount of 'young and/or professional' workers disembarking at Sydders every evening? ... someone has to reflect this in the...

yes you're right poppy. I tried to buy some sausages the other day and absent mindedly asked for some in the butchers. Was never going to happen. They had some nice meats and were polite enough but I felt a bit alienated. And .. so off I went to Borough Market. Mind you - knock out sausages were pur...

Without stating the bleedin' obvious I do not understand why anyone would not want their high street improved. Here's a load of cash to make your local high street nicer. [hands over a one off payment] No thanks, we don't want a nicer high street. We want a crappy high street please - one we're emba...

Done. I love Gourmet Burgers ... often in the one in Lordship La and had a tasty one in Cov Garden area last week. That would be a v welcome addition to the high st. Actually have had some nice evenings in Sydders High St recently .. simply cannot go wrong with Gurkhas (sp?) and actually had a great...

They actually seem to be a tad better this year. Those nice white ones on the tree and surrounding it are more sophisticated and look better. Obviously Beckenham had some left overs. Those 'colourful' ones in the rest of the street look cheap and depressing. They make it look like Tooting Broadway X...

Yep I heard about this ... a representative from Penge was moaning that they won't get anything because they are Bromley and that doesn't constitute a London borough (unlike Lewisham or Lambeth) ... so we might be lucky. That said it just seems a way of plugging the gap in empty premises and helping...

Let's be positive - Subway is a recognised brand and I'll associate it with cleanliness, decent baguettes and I really don't think 'decent' brand names will do the high street any harm at all. There facias tend to be better if nothing else. It could have been a lot worse. We could do with a decent T...

Blue Mountain improvements and Sydenham on good form ...
I think the old BM takes the odd knock on this forum but I have to say I was in there yesterday with a friend (I've not been for a few months) and it seems to have got into it's stride. Lovely atmosphere, well laid out, busy, jazz music playing and i notice you can buy a 'Monty Minor' cheaper full c...
