Re: The next Mayor of Lewisham

I thought perhaps that Paul Bell and Alan Hall would divide the left but that doesn't look the case. Surprised at such a poor showing for Alan Hall but perhaps he's paying the price for holding up the Millwall CPO. Not sure what Egan's position on that particular issue will be.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

.
Well we will have to wait and see if there is a name change for The Greyhound!
I really hope not! Apart from the fact its been called the Greyhound for over 20 0years (except for when it was called the something and Firkin for a while), there are the tow greyhound figures by the fr...

Sorry to hear that Owlwise. I've had the brown bin all summer and it always gets emptied on Wednesdays for me. Guess you're just unlucky.

Re: Cycling Weekend Road Closures

Is 24,000 a small group? 80% male. Varied age and ethnicity to my eyes. Don't know how you can gauge the social class of cyclist as they go past. The Olympic Park was used for the start. Is it not possible to visit Whipps Cross by public transport?

Re: Two more shops closed

There is another Ladbrooke's barely a stone's throw away however so maybe having two shops on the same street was too much even for Sydenham! Was that the result of a merger? Stuart Probably is the result of the Ladbrokes/Coral merger. CMA ordered some disposals and there is a Coral on Kirkdale. Ne...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I suggest you read Pat Trembath's post. How anyone can accuse them of holding up the greyhound development amazes me. If it hadn't been for the Sydenham Society there would be no greyhound building there at all. They have 1,200 members, while we have Sydenham Ward Councillors elected with less than ...

Saw this last night and it was truly excellent. A very professional production and I would urge everyone to go and see it before it closes.

"I'd love to know who voted for/against the CPO."

I'm sure there must be a record of who voted which way at the cabinet meeting. All I know is that Rachel Onikosi abstained and Chris Best voted in favour of the CPO.

Signed the petition.

Re: In praise of Sydenham High Street

Can't understand why people on here seem not to like the Cake Store. Had the last slice of small GI loaf I bought on Saturday this morning and was still fresh. Thriving local business with a national profile that employs quite a few people.

Re: Is Sir Steve Bullock a crook

Bullock now facing open revolt of 45 out of 54 councillors and the whole scheme to be reviewed. Well done Alan Hall. Shame on any councillors still trying to push this scheme though.

"But if you value housing more than football parking then you would expect the council, the mayor to sponsor and support organisations that can alleviate the borough's acute problems and government targets by using what land is available to do so. If the Football Club won't agree then why shoul...

They've deleted a lot of Twitter post this afternoon, including one from our very own Gareth. There is this just now from Brockley Central:

Had a look on the Late Knights Twitter feed and it appears that they are having difficulties and have closed their brewery. Bars are staying open though. Worrying nonetheless.

Re: Speed Camera Westwood Hill - Which speed???

On a related note; I was going to start another thread about the random 20 mph road markings that are springing up. We have one here at the end of Knighton Park Road notifying the residents of four houses that they are entering a 20 mph zone, but there is not one at the start of the road at Sydenham...

Re: Best pub in Sydenham to watch the Palace match tomorrow?

I would imagine the Railway, sorry the Pavilion, would be the best for atmosphere. Good screen in the Alfred. Not sure how the Golden Lion will be after the refurbishment.
