Sydenham Community Radio
Does anyone know know if Sydenham Community Radio is still operating? I've never seen it mentioned in any posters in the windows of local shops, or anywhere else, for that matter. I've visited its web site in the past and listened briefly to a couple of programmes. But I've always wondered how many ...

Re: Mamma Dough
Unfortunately, I don't have any more details on Blackbird moving to Sydenham. There are several empty premises in the high street, and it would be good to see them occupied, although with high business rates and rents it must be a challenge for any business to turn a profit, not least one dealing wi...

Mamma Dough
Mamma Dough is a great addition to Sydenham, but I wondered what people thought about the quality of its pizzas. I've had three takeaways since it opened and, to be honest, the pizzas have been disappointing. While the sourdough base is okay, the flavours don't really work. Also, it's worth pointing...

Re: zigghy coffea shop
Walked past Zigghy's today, but there was no indication outside it about what they actually served. Is it a sandwich bar or what?

Don't order pizzas from Papa John's
If you’re planning your child’s birthday party (a football party in this case), and thinking which local pizza company to order from, well, I would not recommend Papa John’s in East Dulwich. I had ordered and paid for the pizzas yesterday and booked a 4 pm delivery, thinking that’s another thing cro...

Great stuff for taking a pic of this idiot, and his reg is clearly visible if our "community" police are interested.

Radio Sydenham
Anyone know roughly how many people actually listen to Radio Sydenham? I've never heard of it until a few days ago, and I've never seen it advertised anywhere in the high street or anywhere else.

How Cobbs Corner is changing
As I walked past the old CAB office this morning, I glanced inside and was delighted to see the extractor units for the new branch of Mama Dough pizza, which currently has branches on Ladywell, Honor Oak, Peckham, and Brixton. A sour dough pizza restaurant will be fantastic addition to Sydenham. Wha...

Re: Sydenham Farmers Market
A farmers' market would be brilliant for Sydenham. The Crystal Palace Saturday market in Haynes Lane would serve as a good model. It's tucked away, but locals know it's there. Also, the old Co-op would make a great indoor market. Those looking to open a business could rent a stall and not have all t...

Re: Local Legends Sydenham & Penge
My vote would go to Raffaele, at our trattoria. He always makes tour feel appreciated when you walk through the door. Nothing is too much trouble.
I'd also like to single out the staff at Sainsbury's at Cobb's Corner and Tesco in the high street.

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?
I find myself agreeing with much of what bluehaven said. I've been to The Greyhound three times, and it does feel more like a restaurant. Nothing wrong with that. Good news for Sydenham. It needs more places where you can eat a decent meal. We all welcome that. But. I have to say, I've been to plent...

The Greyhound layout
I just wondered what everyone thinks of the layout of The Greyhound. I popped in last night and was struck by how it seemed to be almost like two different places. As I went through the door, I noticed that people on the left were sitting at tables eating or waiting for dishes to arrive, while on th...

Been to The Greyhound yet?
Has anyone been to The Greyhound yet? It was rammed on Friday night and equally busy when I walked past last night. I'm hoping to go this week. I think it looks great, and gives Cobbs Corner a real lift.

Beware of burglars
I was told today that by someone who lives in Whittell Gardens (it runs between Sydenham Park and Sydenham Park Road, not far from Kirkdale) that there have been four burglaries in the road in the last three weeks. On one occasion, a resident returned home from a break to discover her property had b...

Poodle Club drinks
Does anyone know what drinks are on offer at the Poodle Club? I've visited its web site and there's no information. I'm trying to imagine what an evening there is like. Is there a bar area when you can chat and drink, or do you have to sit down and listen to the comics on stage? Also, does it provid...

Food and drink venues in Sydenham
Following on from posts about the Poodle Club, I can't help wonder how it is going to make much money if it's closed during the week when it could open as a bar. People liked Beer Rebellion because it was quirky and a nice alternative to The Dolphin, The Golden Lion etc. I think a bar that provides ...
