Hmm, surprised no-one's responded so far to this. Have you spoken to the police since then? I'm in no position to say whether or not the police did the right thing, but perhaps a call to them might be helpful.

Sorry to hear this news - I hope Palace don't go out of business or drop down a division - but they aren't the first club to go into administration, and they won't be the last. Not withstanding any possible mismanagement, the whole basis on which professional football is run and financed is unsustai...

This picture appears in Coulter & Seaman's "Forest Hill and Sydenham" - a collection of old photos of the area (not sure if you had scanned it from there Falkor?) - and according to the caption the photo was taken in the summer of 1902, during which there were celebrations to mark the ...

Let's move to...

The Guardian's property section covered some of our neighbours in south-east London on Saturday: http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/jan/23/let-move-to-south-east-london Do you think this is fair? Are these the sort of areas that you would recommend to friends and family? How do you think Sydenham ...

Good work Falkor - much appreciated.

Interesting to see the leaflet about Hitherwood referring to train services from Sydenham Hill taking 14 minutes to Victoria - these days they still do, but only outside peak hours, on a good day!

Oh dear, looks like I've been breaking the law all these years! I would be interested in seeing how this gets enforced at about 11:30pm on a Friday night.

Thank you as ever Bensonby for your detailed knowledge of all those obscure bits of law.

Does anyone know of a good plumber? I'm interested in having new bathroom units fitted so would welcome any recommendations. Thanks in anticipation.

Apparently the electronic displays couldn't be used because of an electrical problem but were working this morning. However, they're only as good as the information on them, and I think that yesterday they would not have been much use because of the amount of chaos.

Trains from Syd Hill at 8:15 were severely delayed though I did see plenty of fast trains going past. Station staff do their best but they just don't seem to have the right sort of information that would help passengers decide whether to wait a while longer for the next train or to make alternative ...

I was there in mid-December and the gents are old and tatty, and just a bit smelly - you'd be best off going over to the Dolphin to use their loos!

At the risk of repeating what I've said before on other threads, I think that the Dolphin is very good at what it does but is not a traditional pub (i.e. it has events such as plays, has a well designed garden and good food, and it does attract people who might not go to other pubs in the area) but ...

The path down from the Dulwich Wood House to Sydenham Hill station is very well gritted and has a narrow part snow-free, so quite straightforward to walk to the station. A revised timetable is in operation (trains every half hour) - mine was very busy this morning, but yesterday they were next to im...

Suggs and the Crystal Palace

Madness front-man Suggs has written a book about London, which includes a chapter on the Crystal Palace. Nothing too detailed but it might be of interest to some of you: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Suggs-City-Journeys-Through-Disappearing/dp/0755319257/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262359344&a...
