New council houses
Dear all, It's just come to my attention that the council has proposed four new developments for social rented housing, building on what are currently disused council properties. The applications went in at the end of last month. I've summarized them below, with case references for anyone who wishes...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I’m afraid I don’t have any more information - that’s all that was said at the meeting. I don’t know what conversations the society has had so it may be completely unrelated. I agree I thought the shop front as proposed was perfectly tasteful as it stood. I do understand the concern that too much ob...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Thanks for the update Prince. This was raised by the executive at the Syd Soc AGM in passing. There’s a desire to ensure the signage is in keeping with the conservation area, so I believe there is a dialogue there. Although the executive also stressed they don’t want to prevent Nando’s or Mamma Doug...

Re: Planning - CAB unit change of use to restaurant
I’ve emailed the council to support. A real boost to the area.
The Syd Soc AGM was told the society supports the pizza place. There are also plans to introduce housing to the rest of the office building.

Re: Sydenham Society
In the meantime I would add: If people feel frustrated that proposed developments risk getting stopped because of objections from civic societies or anyone else, the best remedy by far is to send an email to planning at lewisham.gov.uk. It takes only a minute and every submission gets logged and rep...

Re: Sydenham Society
In light of the ongoing discussion here, I asked the Lewisham planning department if they could clear up the status of civic societies such as Sydenham Society within the planning system. Not to make any particular point, but just to establish facts. This was the reply, which said that the council i...

Idea - local planning mailing list?
Hi everyone, I've been wondering for a while if there's any appetite for a dedicated pro-development open email list -- such as a Google group -- in SE26. Recent discussions on here suggest there might people in the area who'd like to do more in encouraging development in our area - such as housing ...
