Re: Saving Pubs / Housing People
Eagle you asked the question, I answered it. Re: Canada - can you reference your claim? Do you refer to means testing? Well most UK benefits are means-tested anyway. A basic Google search shows 'welfare' in Canada still exists. You make me think of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his comment on 'decreasing th...

Re: Saving Pubs / Housing People
It's called compassion Eagle. We live in a civilised society where we help those less fortunate than ourselves. Do you really believe all these people make themselves intentionally homeless? Council housing is just another form of housing which the occupants pay for if able to or with state help suc...

Re: kelvin grove school and their staff parking
At last an extremely well written and informative post explaining exactly what the problem is. I am amazed there are 60 odd staff. But assuming there are 50 teachers ( 1,800 pupils ) then 10 dinner ladies , cleaners , caretaker who would either live very locally or walk. Of course these teachers ha...

Re: Which are the best primary schools in the Sydenham area?
There aren't waiting lists for state schools, it's all done on siblings and distance. You can go to open days, then apply to your borough by 15th Jan next year. You can apply outside your borough. Each borough publishes the furthest distance a place was offered in their 'starting school leaflet' on ...

Re: Does anyone else struggle with Wells Park Doctors?
Whilst I agree the practice is far from perfect, I am reasonably happy with the service, particularly when they see my children. Last week I got an appointment for my son at 11.45am after calling only 45 minutes before. They then gave us an urgent referral to Kings where my son was seen by a special...

The Florence in Herne Hill is pretty kid friendly and even has a dedicated play room next to their outside area.
Wish we had somewhere like that in Sydenham!
Good luck with the party!

I agree all these charity shops would do well to open a bit later than 5 to pick up on the commuters passing on their way home.

Hi Marie, What a great idea! We live round the corner from Byne Rd but would be interested in something like this. Also a good opportunity to meet neighbours. I wonder how the council would feel about it. Would the entire road need to agree? Sue [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk...
