Re: Vote for Sydenham Garden!
I voted - I like Sydenham Garden. They're doing great work on the De Frene Road Allotment site.
Re: GOOD NEWS
will the new Greyhound development have a Waitrose? (tonge firmly in cheek!) I do like some of the shops on Sydenham Road/Kirkdale, but I normally find myself going to other places, just for an interesting change - Penge has Homebase at one end, so if I need anything from there, I'll go to th...

Re: Sydenham Arts Festival
So there was an open meeting last night about the 2011 SAF. I'm sure someone will start a Sydenham Arts Festival 2011 thread at some point in the future, but for now, I'd like to make it known that the festival organising committee are looking for volunteers - specifically in certain areas including...

I am a member of a book club that meets on the first Wednesday of every month, but it's in SE1, near London Bridge, so would also be up for joining something closer to home.

Re: Tomcat keeps getting in, advice please.
I've got two kittens, and they are of course lovely, but reading those posts did make me laugh, nearly out loud. such sadism just for a puddy cat?! I do get annoyed with my two, when they rip the leaves of my yuca plant to shreads, when they poo in the strawberry plant pot, when they scratch the oli...

Re: car parking and repairs
as the person in question is, as you say, of the above, then maybe a photo copy of the appropriate section of the law, placed under each car windscreen wiper, might make him aware of his infractions, and he might desist, before some other neighbour gets the law involved.
Re: payless
but contacting all the people that I mention will certainly decrease the time it takes to get it sorted, and will also make it less likely to happen again in the future. Using the link, and contacting lovelewisham will get the mess removed, but the people who made the mess will be likely to think th...

Re: How do you Sydenhammers enjoy yourself
an acquaintance of mine had an idea for a local social event, so he emailed all his contacts who lived within London, and started 'Forest Hill Boys Night Out' - once a month, a group of men meet up in a Forest Hill pub. It's happening this Thursday somewhere (can't remember where at the mo), usually...

Re: How do you Sydenhammers enjoy yourself
NIS - if you fancy a pint and a chat sometime, just put a thread up on here somewhere, I'm up for a social kind of event, to get to know local people (we only moved to Sydenham in May). We've lived in London for nearly ten years, and it was only a week before we moved out of our flat, that we spent ...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
couldn't agree more with the leafletting/flyers idea - though they'd have to stand out from the usual crowd of take away menus that come through my letterbox, or they'll be recycled pretty smartish.
I'd be happy to volunteer to deliver some if necessary - Mayow Road, Perry Rise sort of area.

I walked past yesterday and saw the PFC sign, and thought "oh no! not another Perfect Fried Chicken!" - only to realise that it stands for Penge Food Centre.

Re: How's the commute?
I used to get the train to LB, and then a bus to Mare St, Hackney. which was an hour and a bit, now I go all the way to Dalston Junction, and a ten minute bus the other end, it's just under an hour. easier for me, more time on the train, less on the bus.

There's a thread about it here The nearest to here are...

Re: Any ideas on an easy lease extension?
we found that we had difficulty selling our property because the lease was at 79 years - it's even worse than the above post would suggest, lots of mortgages wont lend on anything less than 80 years (no idea why, because the avareage length of mortgage is only 25 years anyway) we were approached by ...

Re: Have aliens ever landed in Baxter Fields?
I walk across the middle of Mayow Park twice a day and was getting curious as to what the straight lines of dryer grass were, and it now seems obvious that they're land drains, but I'd have to question why it's necessary to put in drains across a flat field unless it's normally very wet ground, but ...

Re: New Forum me no likey
I like it - it's a format that I'm used to because they use it on the xkcd forums. There definitely should be more posts, I suggest a summer social thread, so that we can all get to know each other in real life (for those that don't already). Maybe in Mayow Park, or the Dolphin beer garden or even m...
