Re: Another stabbing in Sydenham
I didn't know there was a leisure centre in Sydenham ... although I guess the place in Crystal Palace Park is one.

Re: Christmas Lights in Sydenham Rd
I guess it is better that spending is reduced on Christmas lights than essential services given the current economic climate. Bromley is a richer borough and maybe has different spending priorities.

Anyone know the number of an asbestos remover - have a shed roof I need quotes on removing, and it needs to be done by someone approved apparently.

Retail store in new development around The Greyhound. Probably a Sainsburys Local.
That's what everyone is saying will be there anyway.

Re: Payless closed - Kirkdale
Shame if true, it is the only walked-by shop for upper sydenhammers / lawrie park triangle residents leaving the train station. The Sainsbury's will surely kill it off when that opens though.

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station
Maybe we could petition for the road between Cobbs Roundabout and The Albert to be a 20 zone for pedestrian safety? It won't slow down traffic noticeable in reality either, but if an accident does happen it will greatly reduce the harm done to the pedestrian.

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station
After crossing the Sydenham Station crossing last night, might I take this opportunity to remind drivers of the laws relating to pedestrian crossings? Namely - don't drive over the crossing when there is a pedestrian still on the crossing. The driver last night literally watched me cross, and then a...

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station
Whenever we discuss this, people seem to miss the point (not all of you but some). The bit I was referring to is at the top of Newlands Park, at the junction with Sydenham Road. The junction with the bookmakers on the corner? Yeah, this junction is horrible as well - no crossing for pedestrians at ...

Re: 3 MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL IN SYDENHAM
Hi Everyone, I have an Iphone on 3 and have been having problems getting signal at home. I have contacted 3 and they state there is no problem with the masts and that they have not had any complaints from the Sydenham area since 2005! Just wondered if any one else has had any problems on 3 or has a...

Re: Longer trains from Sydenham to London Bridge
It must be nice to be on the train home from work by 17.21!
That would explain the longer platforms they're building at the stations along the line - although I bet Honor Oak Park will only be 9 carriages long :-p

Re: The pub on the kirkdale roundabout
These questions are not being gloomy or negative but are genuine concerns, one would have thought Antic would be keen to be up and running in the pub they " own " leading up to Christmas ? There's no way those flats will be finished by Christmas given their current state. As the pub is wi...

Re: The pub on the kirkdale roundabout
What they're building is not what is shown in that image - the flats are extending over the nearside buildings too. I don't see any reason yet to not think that the pub will get refitted and re-opened once the site becomes accessible. It might not be the biggest pub in the world, but maybe it will b...

Re: Elf and safety gone mad in Sydenham
Like the cat story (the cat was irrelevant to the judge's decision in the case) the media has imposed its own political views on the story. I don't know the property in question, so can't comment on the specific case. But the story does say that it is a communal balcony, a walkway that would be used...

Re: The pub on the kirkdale roundabout
I was looking forward to a new pub opening. But has anyone tried the Bridge House on Crystal Palace Park Road? (near Penge West Station) nicely refurbished. good mix of clientele and Ok pub grub. It is a nice pub, but the downstairs area has some of the worst pub furniture I've ever seen! Also a ra...

Python discovered in garden
Hi,
Has anyone in the Upper Sydenham area lost a Python recently?
We have had one sunning itself on our deck over the weekend.
I don't know where it is right now, but it might account for the drop in mice in the area!

Re: The two half´s pub
Ha! Wondered if anyone would bite at that :) Soulcialise (horrendous name) is actually a coffee and cupcake bar - and the home-made cakes are pretty yummy. It is not my cup of tea (I prefer some alcohol with my socialising) but seems very popular with students and mums. Each to their own, and it be...

Re: Dangerous pedestrian crossing on Sydenham Rd
It's getting moved in 2158 when the high street revamp finally occurs - there will be a crossing opposite the Greyhound instead. I've been nearly knocked down there too (I've complained on this forum about it some time ago), so I'm careful driving up to it - but I've never had visibility issues. Som...

Re: Bus fire on Crystal Palace Parade
Hi, I was popping around my mates' place in CP in his car at around 7.45 and that's when the bus was burning (I think it had just started) - it started in the rear engine, so all the traffic backed up. Apart from the white van that decided to impatiently drive down the bus lane and get stuck - presu...

Re: I refused to pay the 29% increase in utility prices!
My parents used them for a while. I think they called it 'escaping' when they finally left, but that was mainly due to the appalling service for broadband IIRC.
