Brockley Society turned a phone box into a mini library: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/lewisham-phone-box-turned-in-to-londons-smallest-library-9218293.html Perhaps something similar could be done if this phone box is no longer operational? I would just be worried that there might be accusa...

Re: Bell Green Urban Renewal Plan

JGD, I don't see this as a ward dispute although I would dispute the ward boundaries as the only boundaries that matter for an issue as big as Bell Green or Forest Hill town centre. I and the Forest Hill Society are happy to lend our support to groups in neighbouring areas where there is common inte...

Re: Bell Green - A New Plan, January 2019

Hello again, JGD. Saturday's meeting was simply a chance for people to discuss possible ideas to get public consultation started. Nothing has been pre-determined, everything is up for discussion, and the whole local community will have multiple opportunities to contribute. To enable that, however, ...

The longer any conservation (offline and well as online) in this country continues the probability of involving Brexit approaches 1. In fairness this is true for any subject. By definition an infinite conversation will cover all topics, so the longer the conversation, the more likely kangaroos will ...

You flatter me. The only similarity between my house and a ski lodge is being perched on the top of a mountain.

Most of my furniture comes from Ikea so I can never quite understand why people dislike it so much (other than the shopping experience).
But I've never had the meatballs.

Sounds like Lewisham council are expecting the appeal to be withdrawn by SGN for the additional supermarket on the site of the gas holders.

Email received from SGN: Notification of major gas works: Dismantling Sydenham’s redundant gas holder As you may already be aware, we will be starting a programme of work to dismantle Sydenham’s redundant gas holder. I would like to provide you with the following brief introduction to the project an...

Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green

I'm not sure what 'the process' would be - I don't think it would be the planning process unless you were painting on residential buildings or using illumination. Getting funding from council sources might be a different matter if they don't like your design but other sources of funding can always b...

Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green

The mural unfortunately ultimately petered out due to the “conservation area” which the station approach resides in. I'm not sure about that. There is a rule relating to conservation areas with article 4 direction that exterior painting is not allow, but it only seems to apply to residential proper...

Trains to Sydenham and Forest Hill on New Years Eve

Unlike every year since the introduction of Overground, there will be no trains after 00:30 on the night of New Year's Eve / New Year's Day. Trains will run according to the night service which terminates at New Cross Gate. I have written to Len Duvall and Ellie Reeve, both of whom have agreed to wr...
