Re: Theft on the High Street

Or, alternatively, intolerance, snobbery and meanness of spirit. Isn't that how your pedantry on Se23.com has been recieved of late, Fr Orton? I'm sorry, but whichever way you spin it, that fact still remains that these street drinkers are in possession of their faculties. I've known two alcoholics...

Mike & Maria7, have you two been at the aeroplane glue, or what? how do you solve something such as scary looking street drinkers with tatooed faces, stinky cloths, rotten teeth, poor execution of the english language, the inablility to function within so called normal paramaters Landfill? I jes...

Er, but what about the street drinkers' human rights, multisync? You do realise that in preventing them from being the obnoxious bunch of w_nkers that they are, you run the risk of deeply, deeply offending them?

Re: Forgive me, STF and refugees of Se23.com, but...

Typical Torygraph miss representation. The system is there to be played like a violin. No, Mike, the system is not there "to be played like a violin". It's there to act as a safety net for those who have fallen on hard times and subsequently need [temporary] assistance. It is not, contrar...

No BBW. I removed it without any prodding. Although my gut tells me otherwise, I'm willing to leave it at that. Though here's the supporting article that got lost in the deletion: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/8527950/Romanian-families-use-Big-Issue-loophole.html Allow me to re...

I suppose the member that complained about the post that was deleted can dish it out, but evidently can't take take a dose of her own medicine.

Honestly, what a coward.

Re: Is the LBL's drinking control zone lawful?

Yes, bensonby, I'm well aware that Britain's police forces have moved on from the days of the Bow Street Runners, and, as a result, are obliged to provide more than a cell, fine and word of warning for their detainees, not to mention a staircase to throw them down. And don't get me wrong - I accept ...

Re: Is the LBL's drinking control zone lawful?

Don't get me wrong, bensonby, contrary to what my response suggests, I'm not having a dig at the police. I'm just annoyed that we've got ourselves into the position where we're discussing, and in your case addressing the local authority, subjects that used to be dealt with quite effectively. In that...

Re: Is the LBL's drinking control zone lawful?

After reading various proposals aimed at dealing with disruptive drunks who spend most of their time pissing their benefits up the wall in public on a daily basis, I rattled off the following missive. To whom it may concern, Like most law abiding citizens, I can't help but wonder why our police forc...

Forgive an outsider's interuption, chaps, but is the current spate of handbags between messrs Diamondmaker and Ulysses genuine, or is it just an impromptu performance? Apologies in advance for any fuel my curiousity may have added to the fire, but it's just that online friction that could result in ...

Re: Street/Area names

The overall reputation and public image of any highstreet in any part of the country is the responsibility of both the businesses that trade on it and the local authority that governs the stretch of road. Re-branding/naming it so that it sounds familiarly like some of the more affluent and subsequen...

Re: Vote For Kirkdale Village Logo

As well intentioned as this whole venture or re-branding is, attempting to make something out what it's (locally) unanimously regarded as, in this case being a now grubby highstreet, is a complete waste of time and money. The reason places like Blackheath, Dulwich and Hampstead villages all still re...

... it has to be said/raised: The team of Big Issue vendors that still harass the public into buying their magazine from outside of Forest Hill Sainsbury's, have been there for a seemingly unfeasable eternity. It's unfeasable in that they've been there long enough, covering such a period of time dur...

I've never made a secret of my sport, Tim. And I've mentioned it on several occasions. It would seem that these creative posters you speak of may not be as creative as you think, or just haven't been paying enough attention, or perhaps both.

Re: Archery groups/clubs/lessons

I've been doing archery for about fifteen years now, and I'll echo what any other archer will tell you. Archery can be as expensive as you want it to be, within reason, of course. I currently shoot a replica of a Roman legionary bow and make my own arrows, which is nowhere near as hard as it sounds....

Re: Crystal Palace postcards stolen in the post . . . .

Sorry about your loss, Terry. Especially considering the rarity of the images, not to mention your own personal attachment. I've always struggled to comprehend the complacent attitude the Royal Mail takes on what is blatant theft. I don't care if the items weren't removed from your property, because...
