Forest Hill Pools consultation leaflet
I've just received through my door in Bishopsthorpe Rd a folded over white leaflet which I was just about to throw in the recycling bin when, on opening, I discover that it is the consultation 'alert' for the redevelopment of Forest Hill Pools (ie the demolition of Louise House and the Victorian poo...

Couldn't agree more Lee - Lidl is truly bizarre, but wth some great stuff making it worth the experience - yoga mats, deep sea diving equipment, camping gas stoves, plug-in cooler boxes - and cheap Chablis! Some of the staff are nice though... and I'm glad to see they've finally mended the shattered...

So in effect we're being asked to choose between a 7-storey block (option 3) and 2 blocks of unspecified height (option 2), both of which yield 2 pools - although one is described as a 'trainer' pool; option 1 has no blocks but minimal facilities. I can't understand why the Council can't go for an i...

There definitely should not be any demolition of the current historic buildings until the public get a chance to look and have their say on the alternative(s) on offer. And if Lewisham have any hope of meeting the new Government target of 'free swimming for everyone by 2012' they should refurbish th...

I think Chris A has really hit on something here, but possibly should also think about some food items - ie Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate etc. Like many posters, I really miss the Traidcraft section at the pet shop and also the little shop on the bridge which sold Adini clothes and beautiful gif...

The officer responsible for trees at Lewisham is Sheila Yates - her email address is sheila.yates@lewisham.gov.uk You could contact her to check whether the various householders had permission and whether or not any of the trees have (or had!) Tree Protection Orders. Which is the incongruous house -...

In response to T Boy's points on the noise report, if the standard cited can only be interpreted for conditions when windows are closed, it cannot be of any use in real-life because residents may want to open windows to import fresh air or to cool home interiors. Little weight could be attached to a...

Falkor - they were designed by the distinguished architect John Norton who also 're-modelled' Tyntesfield near Bristol (an amazing Gothic Revival mansion acquired a few years ago by the National Trust). What they were for is an interesting question - they were built on the edge of Crystal Palace Par...

Does anyone have any photos of the church of St Lawrence in Catford - more to the point, does anyone know why it was demolished?

Well done DaveT for finding this map - there is absolutely no reason why Southern could not put a gate almost anywhere along the fence on the up platform where it borders the roadway. Although there are some trees, these could be avoided. With the news from Forest Hill that their gate is going to be...

We don't receive it in the Thorpes - I always pick up a copy when I visit my aunt in Westwood House nursing home. I've always thought that we don't get it because perhaps this end of Sydenham is covered by one of the other CofE churches - but I could be mistaken! I always make a point of reading it ...
