Re: Boundary Commission, revised proposals

Many commentators seem to believe that they won't get past parliament. The issue is the loss of 50 MPs. Turkeys won't vote for Christmas! Didn't stop UKIP MEPs in June 2016. I hadn't seen NIs plans when I posted earlier. I admit NI makes it much less unlikely to go ahead. But in this barmy po...

Boundary Commission, revised proposals

The revised proposals have been published, very similar to the old proposals some years ago. Ditching the proposal of the Lewisham West and Peckham nonsense and the madness of splitting SE26 postcode area into 5, Dulwich & Sydenham is again being proposed. Covering all but the Bromley side of Sy...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Indeed both make good points there. Back when the high street paving was being re-done it seemed like there was momentum. The problem is, that as soon as that was completed, the council didn't really bother to do much else. New pavements, trees, benches and crossings weren't the only thing the high ...

Re: Sydenham too tatty for Caffe Nero

I don't know if anyone else has seen it but Sydenham has featured in Homes & Property again today. They made the area sound very nice and well, not tatty at all. "Sydenham, the high-lying south-east London district, has a spring in its step, energised by the Overground extension through its...

Re: Aldi

Whilst it would be better than being empty, we don't exactly need an Aldi almost next door to Lidl. It's just more of the same. Have you even been to Lidl? The olive oil is one of the best you can buy. The gravadlax is delicious too! https://www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk/institute/food-reviews/extra-v...

Re: Sydenham too tatty for Caffe Nero

I can understand the scepticism for big chains. Truth be told I'm not a massive fan of Nero; I had a hot choc from one of their Sutton branches a few weeks back and it was like a kg of sugar was in it. That said, the other side of me says I'd welcome the investment. Preferring empty shops instead of...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

People don't eat at Nandos daily, not even weekly and objecting Sainsbury's Local on the basis of making people fat is ridiculous. Why can none of you people read? I've explained at length the link between consumer convenience living and obesity so to reduce my argument to the above is dumb. I tota...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

As someone who lives opposite the site, having three empty units in view has become tedious. Now with the Greyhound finally being re-opened shortly, I hope for momentum to reopen units. Must be said, Kfh has been far too quiet to the residents above. I support Nandos coming here; we need major brand...

Re: London Overground night extension

I would expect TfL to change Night Buses through NXG to adapt for 24 hour services, like they already have done for the Night Tube lines. Dalston to the New Cross's is the only part of London Overground infrastructure owned by TfL instead of Network Rail, so its not as easy as it may seem to run 24h...

New to the Forum but reading all this with interest. Can't support the prospect of a potential Nandos and cinema enough! ] Firstly, welcome to the forum. Secondly, why? Whats wrong with either? The only thing I'd object to is a "adult shop" or another poundshop really. I think Sydenhamman...

Re: Ellie Reeves MP breaks promise

You seem surprised. I am not exactly falling off my chair. Labour will say anything to get votes; promise free stuff without even considering how to pay for it. It's a shame the many young people that voted labour cannot see through this. For the record, I don't disagree with what Labour stands for...

GTR and Southeastern timetable draft proposal

Sorry for very long post. The new proposal for the Southern, Thameslink etc timetable as been released, for Mon-Fri only. Quick points for Sydenham: Proposal for Caterham services being diverted to West Croydon all day has been scrapped. Instead they are planned to go Coulsdon Town (so still direct ...
