A BIG THANK YOU
A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE SHOPS and ORGANISERS of the Halloween event on Sydenham Road who made Halloween Friday SO special for the local kids! It was busy and all were in very good humour (well almost everyone anyway)! The children were treated to loads of sweets, goodies and lovely books. Wha...

I think we have two opposing views who refuse to compromise or moderate their opinions. Very few people seem to be in the middle here. I personally find drunks in public places unacceptable especially to passing ladies and children but not sure what we can really do. Presumably these people do not ...

I was saddened and a bit embarrassed to walk down the High street on Saturday (and braving the freezing cold) with a friend who was visiting from Harrow, to show him the delights of living in Sydenham...only to come across a number of very dishevelled street drinkers up and down the street. We walke...

Home Park
I think Lee's vision for Home park is refreshing and just what Home park needs. It certainly gets my vote. The money would afford this neglected corner of Sydenham some creative landscaping with the likely result of increasing its use by locals of all ages. The location (with the lovely Sydenham Lib...

202
The new 202 service is indeed on double deckers which just shows that common sense by the transport people prevailed as this route is in very high demand. It's also a very punctual, reliable service.
176
Hi Richie Thanks for common sense! I fully agree that lower Sydenham" is underserved by key bus routes going into London like the 176. Wouldn't it be fab to hop on to the 176 at Sydenham library and beyond. I guess the only advantage to having to trot up to Cobbs corner to catch the 176 is 1)I ...

Pink Guerilla
HI Juwlz Thanks for your supportive stance which is reassuring. Yeah maybe I can take part even with my "keen but not very green" fingers. I have an overgrown fuchsia plant which needs pruning if cuttings are needed at all. There's also tons of mulch in Homepark just sitting there (well it...

Just thought I'd share a response that I recently got from Pizza Express when I emailed them suggesting they consider the old HSBC building. ------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your email regarding the opening of a new restaurant in Sydenham. We are looking to open...

1. Let's trust that people don't litter it. Not doing something because of what may happen seems to be the normal around Sydenham. Let's change it and deal with it if it happens. 2. The idea of Guerrilla Gardening is that you use what's already there, which means that you look for areas that already...

Waitrose
Why can't Sydenham have a Waitrose or an M&S? They will offer something different rather than more of the same. There is a broad demographic in Sydenham, from council/housing association to the recently sold1.5 million point house in Upper Sydenham. Lets talk up sydenham for once. A waitrose do...

FOODIE
Garam masala is a firm local favourite - have you tried out their Sunday buffet (you won't need to eat for 2 days)? Also there's a fab 50% discount offer Monday-Weds until 20th Sept so I'd get my skates on. Their Thursday banquet night is good too. I would give "Golden City" a miss IF you ...

Stock2Exchange
I beg to differ with the latest shabby retail arrival on Sydenham high St. There's an old second hand furniture shop on 152 Sydenham Road called Stock2Exchange that really qualifies for the "Pits" (Cesspit) award. This shop(dumping ground) spills over its shabby unwanted furniture onto the...

Pizza
Yes - agree with NellieB - the old Montecassino was in dire need of a revamp to something smarter and more inviting. Looking forward to the restaurant re-opening. Sydenham is mysteriously short of smart, trendy Pizza/pasta eateries.
