So what Aldi is coming to Sydenham.It will be good news to the poncey people of Dulwich,they will have somewhere else apart from Lidl to come and buy their olive oil,goose pheasant,panettone etc. and impress friends.Cheaper than Sainsbury and very rarely overcharged!

My mum used to work in Cobbs department store.When you paid for things in the store the assistant used to put your money in a capsule and put on tracks or something which sent them upstairs [where mum worked] the change and receipt were put back in the capsule and returned to the shopfloor

Thanks once again Steve i can remember walking under the signal box to get home.Do you know anything of the history of Noel Terraceor of what used to be on the plot of land at the other end of Clyde Terrace,before the gardens were there.Keep up the photos,they're fascinating

Thanks for that Steve We used to have a wail of a time in all these old pathways then, but as we all know it would not be so safe now.Walked along the path that runs from Clyde Terrace to F.H station the other day and remembered how I used to run along there after getting the last train from London ...

Yes, Wells Park Road is a Good topic to get into although Greg Whitehead might not think so.Iremember there being three paddling pools being functional in the 60's also asandpit higher up.We used to go to Hornimans park to the paddling pool as youngsters .But once we'd found Wells Park,that was it!

I seem to remember as a child there being some sort of working mans club near the church spire.We used to go there and explore the buildings after the club was lefy abandoned.Then we would cross Thorpewood Avenue and go down "dogs___ alley" towards London Road behind Taymount Grange there ...

I would urge people to check there till receipts when shopping in Sainsbury.On two occasions in the last month i have been overcharged to the tune of £6.I noticed and returned to the store,but how many people possibly pensioners do not.Imean to say £12 is a lot for most people and adds to Sainsburys...

When i was at school in 1966 if i remember correctly.There wer a group of lad who were regulars in the Talma who met up there to go on holiday and never came back,as there plane crashed in Perpignon.Very sad! it affected myself and friends very badly.

spoke with my "postie" yesterday.She said the sorting office would be moving to forest hill possibly in october.Does this mean that yet another of our older historic buildings is to be demolished.I'm sure there is a date on the front of the building.Anybody know :?:
